I run my G500 with the heavy weights. 800DPI and raw input on games that support it

It's holding up great and I don't think I'll be getting a new mouse for a long while. Though I may sleeve the cable as it is fraying.

G5 here. Not really happy with it. Upgraded from a Microsoft X5.

Things I don't like:
  • Scroll wheel is too flimsy, not enough resistance
  • High pitched squeel that comes from it 24/7

Razer Mamba

Love it because it fits my hand (big hands)

Only issue I have had is the dreaded doubke click issue that a lot of them get.

Pulled it apart, and used sone contact cleaner. ALL FIXED! :-)

+1 for the MX518, I've had mine for 3 years now and for my uses (mostly browsing with occasional gaming) it is perfect.

Mionix Naos 5000

I've got big hands and was getting some serious cramping and pain in my wrist... this baby has definitely improved things! I could probably go a little bit bigger, but this is the best I've tried so far.

Razer Mamba *2012 release*
Significant performance increase over the previous release. The battery life in wireless is impressive now to, am able to go at least 6 hours straight of gaming without a break if i wanted to and should there be a time your pulling a forever alone moment a easy switch of the cord into the mouse *which is pretty much fastened in tight so you don't need to worry about loose cord conn* the engineering of the cord makes it feel like its still wireless.

Lots of profiles, enough buttons for general use / fps gaming - 6400dpi and most of all the looks. Has a great base station for the wireless that doubles as a charger and the leds on the basestation and the mouse can be changed to your liking *even cycles through colours if that's your thing.

Having previously owned a G7 a while ago i vowed never to go wireless again but got recommended a mamba by a friend who has the previous edition - he didnt even know a 2012 version came out and I tell you what I'm glad i went that route the wireless is great doesn't cut or stutter and using the right pad not something cheap and well going by your standards you want the best *id recommend a Xtrac RipperXXL for the mat for any mouse really* then this mouse will have to be in your top priority.

Logitech MX1000 wireless laser mouse

best mouse i've ever owned.
must be 6 or 7 years old now and still works great.

someone mentioned earlier about getting the occasional hair in the lenses cavity making tracking go a bit wobbly. other than blowing out the odd cat hair or wiping crud of the feet, joy to use.

the battery life is still good during normal usage. during gaming tho (rts/fps), will run down after 10 to 12hrs heavy usage. this might be due to age of the device tho.

apart from the mouse and my MS 'Wireless Comfort Keyboard' (just can't use keyboards without the 'break' or curved keys now), it's the oldest piece of hardware attached to the PC.

I had a Mamba untill recently, but it died.

I now have a NAOS 5000, and I think it is superior to the mamba. The only thing it is missing is the wireless.

It will do me fine untill I die of old age waiting for the G7 to be re-released.

MX-518 i love it, but I use it on a lounge mostly and the feet don't seem to like such a rough surface and have started.. not coming off, but when i move left i can feel them slightly grabbing at the surface. still, it's going well after 2 years.

I'll upgrade to the G400 in due time.

I do have a Logitech MX mouse, but found it quite large and the cord annoying. Using a MS Sidewinder X8 now and I totally love it.

My current mouse is a Logitech MX518 v2. It's a great mouse but you need to set the polling rate to 500 over the default 125.

In the past I have used

Logitech G5 v1
Logitech G5 v2 (2 side button)
Logitech G1/MX300
Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A
Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0

Easily the best mouse I've ever used, everything about it is perfect. It is getting old now though and I am scared it will stop working. I have tried many mice to replace it and they have all failed in some way.

i was surprised no one else mentioned the MX1000. good to see i'm not alone.

i just wish i bought 2. one to sit on the charger and one to use.

i'm pretty disciplined about the battery tho, if i'm not using the mouse (watching a tv/film/clip) i unconsciously drop the mouse in the cradle to charge. i never leave the mouse to charge over night tho. probably why the thing has lasted so long.
