it usually is (1k vs $600) but ive found one for a good price and have ordered it in.

I'm waiting till the X79 is fully released and then you can pick up any 1366 6-cores cheap.

I came close to getting a 980X for $620 but in a couple of months time I may get it for $600 or less.

Time........is on my side.

They're waiting to see what it offers and/or to bring x58 gear down in price. Just because its not new doesn't mean that it's obsolete and Id find it pretty hard for anyone to prove otherwise especially when these guys are talking about picking up a six core 970/980 etc for a good price

All tech is obsolete

While I want to write - don't listen to this since there is really nothing that is pushing the current platform, the cost of one of the 980X's will pretty much see you move to a IVY-E ... pending how good it actually will be which still remains to be seen.

I think X58 has been the best platform I have owned - heck i could just as easily be running my first setup C1 920 @ 3.8ghz and with just a GPU upgrade or two... I would see every application (game, trying to sound more professional haha) run in all its glory.. So yeah X58 could easily be the cheapest platform to have run.. sorry for the rant! ahha
