not only is the new talent system TOTALLY SHIT. it also somehow manages to have useless talent tiers when there's still only 6 to pick from? what the fuck blizzard.

actually, screw that, out of 6 there's ONE truly useful one

great way to take one of the coolest features of the entire game... dumb it down.. then remove its usefulness entirely.

Yeh I was keen to resub (mainly in order to get D3 for free mind), but I also wanted to join some mates who had started a guild and are raiding (why couldn't they do this when I first got them into the game and was still raiding?!). Then I see the ridiculous new talent tree, and now I'm not going to bother.

I know they need to mix it up every expansion and keep things fresh, but not by REMOVING choice from the best thing about WoW - the talent trees!

qq, now we have the choice of 3 different cookie cutter specs from 18 talents, instead of 3 different cookie cutter specs from 100 talents... no difference, move on, nothing to see here.

Only thing is, now they can more easily balance pvp without affecting pve and vice versa

Yup, those 3x+1% crit talents sure are interesting!

Hehe yeh yeh. But the lack of choice just makes the talent tree seem so...bland. Probably make it easier to balance internally and with the other classes though.

Or pick from a bunch of things that have use either only for PvP or specs other than my own? Hooray!

I'll admit, the new trees aren't perfect (I'm a shaman, so I got fucked hard). But it's pre-alpha - shit's got a long way to go.

I still like the structure though - especially the part about being able to change it on the fly.

I like the concept but it needs a huge amount of work. As a ret paladin, there's bugger-all PvE benefit from most of the talents.

Best part of it. Now they'll be able to add more fights where utility from dps players comes into play more, rather than just straight dps.

Doubt it. To make talent trees to give players more "choice" and then pigeonhole them to specific talents to get the appropriate utility for certain fight mechanics would be counter-productive.

Well, 4.3 has been out for over a month now, so I would expect a lot more Panda info to come out soon.

I'll update the OP when the beta is announced - I'm still guessing late Feb/early Mar.

Now that Cata is done (no more content patches, says Blizz), how do people now about MoP?

Keep an eye on the talent calculators, apparently they've made a heap of changes and an updated calculator is on the way
