It looks like Dickie Smith has upped their prices now as well.

I feel like we have been feasting on cheap storage for a while now. I was lucky enough to get a few drives (10tb formatted) over the last few weeks to see me through the next 6-12 months.

However I wonder about the SSD market. I have not heard of any of those factories being wiped out.

I hope we can expect their prices to keep dropping, and reliability increasing.

Any rumours on SSD production issues?

SSD is unaffected as far as I know. The only issue is allocation for APAC but I believe it's fine for Q4

The price rise is a bit disappointing... I was going to grab a few (6) more 2TB F4EG as spares for my RAID... I'll probably need to just suck it up and get them before stock no longer exists

Did exactly the same 5x 2TB F4EGs as spares as I wonder how manufacturers will deal with RMA replacements while stock is low ? refunds ?

Yeah especially considering Samsung drives will be hard to source after next month due to the whole merger.

I am putting together a storage server and was going to purchase disks last Saturday and put it off due to the weather, big mistake!

Noticed another option about, Hitachi XL3000 3TB Desk Drive available at a lot of places from $149. Checked out the details and it is a standard 7K3000 Hitachi inside, which makes it cheaper than buying the drive alone before the price rise!

There's even a vid on youtube about removing them.

I orignally wanted 5K3000's due to heat and power but at this price certainly worth looking at.

Yeah 2TB WD Black are around that mark although some places still have then at $200-220 mark. I opted for 2TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200RPM still some around $155-165 mark.
