Default Rocksmith - Be a guitar hero with YOUR guitar

Quote:
Rocksmith - The first and only game that plugs into any guitar

Introducing the next stage in the evolution of the music game. Rocksmith, the first and only game where you can plug into any real guitar.

Featuring gameplay that automatically adjusts to your personal ability and innovative game design that makes playing music visually intuitive, Rocksmith will engage experienced musicians as well as those who have never picked up a guitar in their life.

Every copy of Rocksmith will include a revolutionary 1/4 inch to USB cable that turns the guitar's signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles for the first time. By plugging into your console, you'll develop real skills and real styles while playing absolutely real music.

For those looking for something a little more "game-like" than the rank-and-file note charts, Rocksmith presents the Guitarcade. The Guitarcade is a collection of mini-games meant to teach you the basics like scales, chords, and harmonics through a few standard gaming conventions. By doing things like taking out pixelated ducks in a Space Invaders-themed shooter and fighting off a zombie horde by playing the right chord, the Guitarcade teaches you muscle memory and trains your hands to better understand where they are on the guitar's fretboard.

Every note, chord, pick scrape, or sound you make is played through the game in real time, and it's amazing how Rocksmith essentially turns your TV or stereo into an amplifier. Thankfully, there's a built-in tuner you can access from the menu, and you're prompted to check your tuning between songs. Reverb and distortion are added to your guitar's sound on a song-by-song basis too, but you also unlock different amps, effects pedals, and guitars to fiddle around with in the game's absorbing sandbox-style amp mode.

In games we often talk about the joys of tearing through a particularly tough boss or getting all of the well-hidden collectibles, but at the end of those grueling experiences all we walk away with is memories. Rocksmith is the first time I’ve put in effort and gained real skills that exist outside of the artificial world of games and can be put into practice in my real life.

Would love to see some thoughts on this after you get it. Seems like a fantastic idea.

Hey DJ Fusion,

I started a thread over here about this game http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=946268, maybe a nice admin can combine the two

Anyway

been looking forward to this game since I first heard about it, the only downside atm is the tracklist is kinda light for my liking but still will be fun to check out

Im in the US next week, so im thinking about grabbing a copy, but like you said that might be a DLC issue

Will do man. Initially I dismissed this game as a gimmick until I started reading all the positive reviews at another forum I go to, now I can't wait for my copy to get here.

Seems it's getting decent reviews across the board:

Ah no way! My bad, and I can't merge that thread into this one because I'm not an admin in the gaming forum.

I want this bad! Going to wait for the AU version though as I don't want to miss out on DLC.

Yeah man that Epiphone Les Paul Junior looks like a surprisingly decent guitar for someone just starting. I bet it shits on the Rockband Squire as a first guitar.

But I'd probably just wait until sugarcult posts a new FS thread and snap up one of his awesome cheap guitars instead.

I reckon do both! Go for your lesson, get some great advice and good habits from a proper teacher and then when you get home you can use the game to put your new lessons to use and start getting some songs and licks under your belt.

I sort of regret never having lessons, people look at me weird when I hook my thumb over the top of the neck and then hold my pick with three fingers.
