Had a feeling these were going to be volt hungry monsters.

Seems a bit strange. 4.5 is easily achievable but pushing beyond, these early CPUs needs lots of volts.

MSI X79A-GD65 - http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2097188
Gigabyte G1.Assassin2 - http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2094194
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme - http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2087649

Dino just told me new BIOS for the G1.Assassin2 is due out today, though.

I'd be inclined to think it will boost overclock as well because he said it well, and second 24 Hours ago the MSI was only doing 4.625GHz

id be keen to see 24/7 everyday o/c rather then what the max you can reach, take a CPUZ validation and reboot.

I'd like to see Prime95 blend 4+hours and Coretemp max temps.
but then again its early days for that.

All these CPU-Z Validations are taken after they run my full motherboard testing suite including 3DMark 11, 32M Hyper PI and a 1080 to iPad 2 video encode

If I wanted to take just a screenshot, I could've shown you 5.2GHz on the Rampage IV Extreme which had a 50% crash rate when hitting the start button

If thats the case, pretty nice results indeed.
Now how about the temps?

Arghhhhh

75 - 85c depending on the board

While stable, not sure I'd run the 24 / 7

My new CPU looks like a BAWS, though, hope to do some more testing with it tonight on the R4E

Mines in the middle of Prime right now @ 4.5

I'll be leaving it on over night.

But like I've said, so far it seem it hits 4.5 ok and pretty easy but to ramp it up beyond the CPU needs a fair bit of voltage.....

Whats tjmax? 80c or something?? Will be cutting it fine to have headroom at decent oc without top of the line cooling.

I reckon a good test of one of these cpu's would be a compile of Android ICS, it is supposed to be a monster compile when it is released.
