under 1.55v 4.6ghz the highest temp on 3930k was 75c (load with prime95 small FFTs test) in a 20c room temp, water temp is around 26c. right now, ive got a new 3930k after RMA and its doing 4.6ghz at 1.35v ![]() idling/ocau-ing temp is 33c highest. Under load with prime95 small FFTs test ive tested earlier around 55c i'd love to.. just dont have the time right now heres a pic which isnt sideways ![]() its a little dusty... ![]() the temp on the right is my room temp (18.7c) and the temp on the left (23.1c) is the water temp. I just love how silent it is yet so powerful bare in mind, 23.1c with 590gtx and 3930k in the loop. open concept really is the best solution if you are going for a silent pc ![]() if i have time tomorrow, ill do some benchmark with an aquarium chiller to cool the water even more

it can't even reach the same speeds as a 580 sli setup without the risk of blowing a vrm...2 590s probably can't come close to beating my 4-way 480s ![]() as for the 6990... i'd reckon 4 x 6970 would be quicker, and 4 x 480s would be quicker again - especially when overclocking

Here is my awesome new system.
![]() Click to view full size! Will try playing games later today at this clock rate. Funny thing, at idle the Core Voltage is 1.392V. I let the motherboard, Gigabyte Assassin.2, regulate the voltage.

![]() Should 5ghz be possible 24/7 on custom water cooling? Or is it just that much further that the volts needed are unreasonable?

Keep in mind, the case fans are blowing into the radiator, and the radiator fans are sucking air from the radiator, they are all blowing in one direction. Pics here.
Click to view full size! Click to view full size! Click to view full size! Click to view full size! Temperature dropped by 2 degrees centigrade by closing the case, retested. EDIT: Upgraded my BIOS, G1 Assassin 2, from F4 -> F5, bad idea. The system would boot but blue screen. Now I have manually set the VCore to 1.35 and Hz to 4.6GHz. Auto voltage does not work anymore on the F5 bios. All fixed now. SiriusDragon: I will not try 5GHz, as I want my PC to be usable even on a 40 degree day.

I headed over to tweaktown for the beta F6C BIOS - nothing but stability so far http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html

No idea about those combos, but tbh I wouldnt touch either of them, 6990 CFX cant do what I want and I'd rather use Tri 580 than 590 SLI.. plus I already have Tri 580. If you didnt care for SSAA, AO, 3D or PhysX then 6990 CFX might be excellent on a P67/Z68 platform without NF200. I'm interested in the results actually, even though I wouldnt use such a set up it would be interesting to see what impact, if any at all, the pcie lanes and other improvements on x79 make. I'm picking it will be sweet F all most of the time with a 6990 CFX config. |

![]() So even though you can clock a 6990 to the same speed as 4 x 6970, the 6970 on x79 or x58 don't need to worry about any additional latency. On the nvidia side, anything other than 2-way sli on p67/z68 requires an NF200

Currently running my 3930K at 4.3GHz (first OC run), 1.328V, Bus 130 MHz, multiplier 33.
It's been steady on Prime95 now for over an hour, with a H100 cooler in the P280 case it's max temp on any core is 59, lowest max is 55. Pretty good runnings. I'm looking for a safe 24/7 OC level, honestly I'm happy with that but I'll probably push on for about 4.5 and see where that gets me. Rock solid so far though, looking good.
