I tend to agree - of any notebook I've owned, ever, it has the worst screen. And keyboard. And trackpad.

Actually... why did I buy it again? :/

Just got off the phone with Harvey Norman, I was quoted $1650 over the phone for the top of the range UX31E-RY010V. Not a bad saving, and the cheapest I have managed to find so far.

I bought one and love it. Had no issues with kb, love the touch pad (which surprised me, since I hate touch pads in general) only real complaint is vertical viewing angle but I can live with that.

I can live with keyboard but the verticle viewing angle really kill it for me. I went to the darkside and bought an MBA for $1300 and run native windows on it. Suprisingly the MBA run windows very well,

i also like how they provide you with the extras (usb to ethernet, hdmi and vga adapters etc) much better than having to go buy the ethernet adapter for my bro's MBA (yes i use the wireless but sometimes i use it plugged in)

looks very pretty and does what i need it to do.
Did you run into any trouble installing the Instant On utility?
I;ve done a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate and am having troule installing the above utility as well as Live Update & BIOS update programs.
They dont believe I'm using an Asus laptop!

"software must be installed on a asus notebook"

It was at Harvey Norman in Taylors Lakes, outside Watergardens shopping centre. In Melbourne western suburbs.

Just got an i5 ux31 for $1100.

Unfortunately the stock reported 2 units available but when they went to get it (after I had paid) it wasn't there.

So i have a few days wait while they ship it from another store.

They were pretty reluctant to match the receipt i had. Tried to get me to buy extended warranty, laptop bags etc. I just said nope, i only want the laptop.

Can't wait to retire my sony fz (which is still a good lappy) the battery is borked though and its a bit heavy for travel...

Hey mate

Can you upload your receipt? I am looking at getting one as well. Which store you purchase from?

also there are 2 different SSD's that come with the ux31
sandisk and adata.
the adata's are faster but i doubt you will notice the speed difference in day to day use
