Yeah but they're also probably the kind of people who buy $300 ethernet cables to 'protect their bits' on their hi-fi gear or similarly buying $10,000 power cables for said hi-fi gear. They're the guy at the party who, in any conversation, must absolutely have everything better than anyone else. I think its the only way they keep their psyche together otherwise they'd fall into a heap of inadequacy.

On topic, does anyone know if the coffee supplied in these machines is 'fair trade' or similar? Or at the very least, slavery-free coffee?

I've just checked the leaflet and the box and none of them say. It just says made in Germany from imported coffee.

We tried the number 6 today for a cappucino and it was the best I've tasted so far. I've tried number 5 and 9 and they're not to my taste.

I have to agree, number six would have to be the cappuccino coffee

I'm pretty sure I will go the 8 for my flat whites

Was there a lot of vitriol? I had a quick look at the thread on whirlpool and didn't really notice any.

I'm a nespresso owner and hope this aldi machine helps drive down the price of nespresso

They should have tested this aldi machine more though, it seems like a huge proportion of people have the handle fail and milk frother issues. hope they aren't just dumping all the faulty units in a landfill

I'm very much considering getting one to leave at my parents' place. I'm kinda worried about the reports of the lever being fragile though.

Seems there's a different range of capsules (including hot chocolate and one for chai lattes) on the K-fee website. Maybe they ship to Aus?

On the lever - I would have snapped mine off yesterday had I not read all the stuff from you guys.

Was closing it, and the capsule jammed or something with the lever stuck half way, my first instinct was to put a big deal of weight behind it but as I started applying more pressure I instantly remember the photos of snapped ones.

So I backed off and reseated the capsule and all was well.

They've said the hot chocolate will be coming next year.

Must say whilst I like the milk frother, I wish it would take a double capacity as it's a pain if you're making a few coffee's as you have to let it cool down in between each use.

Just rinse it in cool water after each use, it cools down much quicker and can be used almost instantly (from what I've found anyway).

Then again, for $20, could even get two

We did swill it and then put the cold milk straight in. I think it's just a bit of a chore making 4 cups. Certainly for the price it's very good though.

They're a very good price, compared to others on the market. I'm not a fan of too many gadgets so wouldn't want 2. Maybe I'll just get someone else to make them when we need 4. lol

To be truthful I haven't got a machine, just borrowed my sons when he was away but I do have the milk frother.

Yeah, because a thread titled 'Aldi Expressi Machine & capsules/pods' is obviously a Nespresso thread.

And 'mouthing off'? What are you gonna do - fight them after school near the bike racks?

Yes, I'd agree the two discussions should be separated, regardless of individuals feelings on the subject.

Picked up one of these machines this week - am VERY surprised by how drinkable the coffee is. I would never have considered it had I not read this thread... so thankyou, OCAU Also bought every sort of pod so I'll have some fun over the next week or two seeing which ones stand out. I was considering giving up coffee to help the save-for-a-house effort but at this rate I might not have to
