Default Anthology of SS

Here is the build log for my next modding project, based on a recently-acquired Prometeia Mach 2 SS cooler.

It is a medium-term project, and I expect it to be finished by early/mid next year, if not sooner...

The plan is to do a few things:
  • Make a mount for the Mach2 Evaporator Head to fit AM3/AM3+
  • Extend capillary tube and install/replace condensator with bigger unit. Also replace the lonely single fan with 2x 3000RPM Scythe Fans!
  • Regas the unit to R404/Leak test/ Oil change in compressor (full service)
  • Install TECKOOL TEC-based cooling units for the VGA cards. Includes a whole lots of rads, fans, blocks and pumps!
  • Make a custom casing for the unit, with a top-mounted motherboard tray for easy mounting.
  • Paint the system with a Futurama themed color scheme, and bench the crap out of PC parts!
  • & Much much more...
As you can see, there is quite a bit of work still to be done before I can start benching with the unit, but I hope to have it done by early next year or so.

I hope to get the custom mount for my AM3+ mobo done by the end of this week, so I can start doing some load testing and work out the best replacement parts for the prommie.

I will also use some of my new range of TECKOOL cables in the build, including all data/power cables.
Here is an example:

I am also thinking of integrating a couple of rads for TEC/watercooling the different VGA cards and motherboards I'll be benching on the system too for maximum performance!

Colors/Design:
Pics of the colors I am thinking of going for the case.
I am thinking of going the same yellow that is in the logo for the main case, with red and blue accents on the showy bits!

Current part list so far in the case:
  • Modified Mach2 unit & stock controller with custom sleeving
  • 2x 140.2 Koolance Radiator (Side Mounted)
  • 1x 120.2 thick Radiator (Back Mounted)
  • 2x Pumps (TBA)
  • 2x Reservoirs (TBA)
  • Fans (TBA)
  • 3x PSUs (TBA)
  • Custom Wiring & Sleeving

Cheers bro! I will put that Scythe fan I got off you to good use in this build for sure!

Got a few Qubeloks at Bunnings today while getting other parts for the mounting system for the Prommie's head. This will form the base of the case, and is made up of 8 corners and 4 Tees, which will allow me to have a separate platform in the case for PSU/HDDs etc...

I am going back to Bunnings tomorrow to get the aluminium tubing, then starts the fun in cutting that and assembling it...

More to come tomorrow...

Went on a quest to take apart the prommie today. Quite a nice built unit I shall say.

Here is the unit outside the stock casing. I pulled out the sleeving on the head to add some insulation on top of the heater wire...

There is a lot of cabling extension and sleeving to do as well...

I thought I'd take a photo of the back of the compressor so I'll know how to wire it back later on...

Extending and sleeving the Scythe fan that will be mounted at the front of the condensing unit... It will be wired to a switch at the back labeled "Loud As Fuck" mode!

As usual, comments and suggestions are welcome!

Also subbed NL11F's a nice strong/quiet compressor, very popular back in the day. If your re-doing the cap you may as well do the evap. The stock Prommy evap's were just plain crap.

These units with the right mod's really kick ass

Thanks for the kind words C-BuZz!

Regarding the mods, I definitely have been looking at them, and stumbled upon the Under-The-Ice Evap kit (Chilly1 2009 evaporator kit), with mountings for pretty much any socket under the sun

Do you think this would be a good replacement for the stock head?

Quick update. Here is the test fitting of most of the parts going into the build. Only done one side and the back for now, to see if it's all gonna fit in...

Had a look at that place today, but it seemed to have closed down.

Not sure where to get the unit re-gassed now, and I really am keen to get this done soon. Anyone know a good place in Sydney to get the unit re-gassed?

Unless you know a fridgey it's going to be tough. Even if you do find someone it's a little bit more complicated than just getting it re-gassed. Because it's going to have to be tuned for a specific load, which is usually done with a load tester on the fly. I was constantly adjusting the gas in my units depending on what processor I was using.

If I were you I'd just use it in the state that it's in & be happy with it, or start researching how to DIY.

DIY is a LOOONG road, but the end result is well worth it IMO

Yeah I've been looking into getting the gear to sdo it myself now...

AFAIK, it only takes 70gm of R404 to get it regassed, from what I can take from other sites/mach2 owners... Wouldn't that be all the infos the fridge people need to refill it tho?
