Hmmm, seems promising. So their going to release a replacement for the GTX590 before a true flagship single core/GPU card. I wonder how the 512bit memory interface will go though, as I believe it was the reason why current GeForce cards struggle to get high memory clocks.

Not too familiar with AMD sweet spot strategy though, anyone care to explain to me?

Looks good, nice to have some info.

I wonder when the revisions will come out.

2013 is a bit of a drag but its probably the GTX 690 i guess.

Hmm...

So if the GK104 isn't any quicker than a single 580, then that's a problem, as I'd have to wait until 2013 to get better performance than my current setup, assuming I stick with my 480s

I hope I'm wrong and due to the new architecture and process the GK104 is blazingly quick, but if it takes 4 of them to catch up with 3 580s then that'd be a bit of a disappointment.

Anyway, it's great that information is starting to come out about these chips

yeah I am a bit disappointed about that,so the best we will be getting in 2012 is a card that's only 30 percent better than the gtx 580 and still has only 1.5 GB of memory.

In all honesty though where not going to need anything better than this untill the new xbox 720 and ps4 consoles come out in 2013 or whatever release date they have, whats the point nvidia can make a card 10 times the power of the gtx 580 and it will still be running dx9 console ports 99 percent of the time,I spose we can 300xQ the dx9 port with all that power

I hope the top end single GPU cards feature more than 1.5GB memory by default

Instead, the top single GPU part will be GK104, featuring 384-bit 1.5 GB GDDR5 memory

You would assume the GK104 would be the GTX680. You can tell it all by looking at the bit depth of each of the cards.

GK104 is the 384bit card like the GTX580 is currently. The GK110 is the 384bitx2 like the current 590 so you would assume that would also be the 690.

What makes me tickled giddy and pink with this road map (if it is at all true) is that there is one above the potential 690 with 512bits GDDR5.

Nvidia must have made a startlingly large power jump upon hitting 28nm if they're willing to be putting a 512bit card out there and if it's going to be marked higher than a 2x384 bit card... wholly molly that just makes me wet in the pants.

Think about it like this. Technically the 690 will be 768 bits because it houses 2x384 BUT, realistically it's nothing like that... it's got to communicate seperately, and we all know you don't get 100% gain from having two graphics cards on one board.

But a single 512bit card... oh my... oh my indeed. PCIe3.0 28nm 512bit GDDR5... oh my.

I've been so unhappy with ATI's drivers lately, they were good for a while, but lately they have been the cause of my computers crashing. I think the 6990 + 6970 setup will probably last me through until the time that this card comes out... but at that time, I think I'll be going to two of those monsters if they perform as well as I think they will... I mean, a single GPU card that should be more powerful than two of the 690 spec cards... SHIIIIIT.

It also looks like they're moving everything else down as well.

They are still going to be making a 520 spec card for the el cheap bottom of the barrel, but I bet it is a smoking fast card even for it's price, but then step up from there, and you go straight to the 256 bit 560.

So... next time if we think about the naming conventions of this time it might be like this.

The 520 will be the 620.

The 560 will be the 650.

The 570 will be the 660.

The 580 will be the 670.

The 590 will be the 680.

The new beast of a whatever it is that Nvidia is cooking up will be the 690.

And that is a crazy prospect.

Excuse me just rambling all out there, but that's what happens when I get excited.

I highly doubt the GK112 will be faster than the GK110. I mean it's like comparing GTX560 Ti SLI against GTX580. The GTX580 is much faster as a single GPU card, but compared to the dual, it's still behind in overall performance. I can see the GK110 being called the GTX690 and the GK112 being called the GTX680 or 685, where as the GK104 being the GK570. I mean put it this way, GTX480 became the GTX570. So the GTX580 equivalent in the 600 series would become the GTX670 (they share the same memory bus and capacity after all).

I'm more interested in teh GK110, hopefully with the die shrink, it'll mean that the GK110 will be cool enough to run at full speed.

Is there any chance Nvidia plan on supporting 3D Surround off just the one card like Eyefinity does with this new series? Because this is the one thing stopping me from ever going back to Nvidia atm. I'd have to buy 2 cards just to keep my current 3 monitor setup. Alternatively I could use that money towards a high end ATi 7 series card and still have an upgrade option to Crossfire later down the track.

I found this article but it's not clear on what exactly they are going to do other than pushing to compete with Eyefinity.
