4500 Low Clock 3D11 Physics Challenge

Guys, this was suggested to me by surtr so here it is. The objective is simple- produce the highest 3D11 physics score with a fixed cpu clock. It will have classes as follows:

Ivy-E, Sandy-E, Haswell, Ivy Bridge, Sandy Bridge, all AMD hex cores or higher, all other AMD(ambient), all other Intel(ambient), Intel sub-zero and AMD sub zero.

    LIMITATIONS
Processor speed is limited to 4501 MHz, no higher will be allowed
A compare link must be provided
    A verification screenshot is required.
Screenshot must include: 3DMark11 Score, CPU-Z CPU, CPU-Z Memory, Mem TweakIT / GIGABYTE GTL / (anything that shows memory subs)

If you have any suggestions as far as rules please post up, if sub zero doesn't have much bearing then I will incorporate these scores into the ambient section but I believe that cooling the IMC will boost mem clocking range so scores will go up. If some cpus do not like running 4500 easily then we can reduce those to 4000, the idea is to get us tweaking rather than overclocking more and more.

This is not meant to be too serious, lets have some fun.

    Fire away.

I'll enter, for the joy of it, not because I will win. Couldn't win XTU comp, due to no haswell, can't win this, thanks to no s2011 cpu.

    'ho well.

Will have a submit up later tonight.

That's why we have classes mate, outright winner would be cool, but we can compare with others of the same level too. Its for fun.

Sounds like fun and another chance to learn more.

I'm assuming we are meant to be putting just the physics score at the start not our actual score since it's a physics challenge?

    Haswell

just added 200Mhz onto my normal 24/7 clocks just to get a baseline going :p
    11589 - self_slaughter - Corsair, Dominator Platinum, 2133 Mhz, 9-11-11-31 1T - Gigabyte Z87X-OC - F7a-mod - Link - Screenshot

lmao, tried high speed ram with super loose timings for shits n giggles and actually lost 1 point ahahaha
    11588 - self_slaughter - Corsair, Dominator Platinum, 2800 Mhz, 12-19-19-46 1T - Gigabyte Z87X-OC - F7a-mod - Link - Screenshot

jacked up uncore to 4.5Ghz as well and lost another few points :p
    11583 - self_slaughter - Corsair, Dominator Platinum, 2800 Mhz, 12-19-19-46 1T - Gigabyte Z87X-OC - F7a-mod - Link - Screenshot

I'll ughhh get back to you on this one before I embarrass myself any further!

ok, actually tried somewhat this time and managed to get a slight boost :D
I've never really actually tried to get good scores in benchmarks etc, I usually just go for a quick n dirty over clock assuming higher clocks and lower timings etc = higher scores.
It's interesting to see lowering certain timings or increasing my uncore actually drops the scores!

This should be a good learning experience!

Anyways after playing with my ram for the last hour and a half here's what I came up with
    11870 - self_slaughter - Corsair, Dominator Platinum, 2400 Mhz, 10-12-11-30 1T - Gigabyte Z87X-OC - F7a-mod - Link - Screenshot

hmm, seems video cards still play a fair role in this test.
Was just experimenting running physics only to see how it went with a few things and I thought what if I disable SLI? That should free up the CPU a touch more.
Needless to say I dropped 1000 points :'(

I'm going to bed, this damn test is so inconsistent when running physics only it's pissing me off lol.
Gunna leave prime run overnight to see how stable the ram is at these settings, maybe that's causing the inconsistency :/

edit: ram was unstable, failing prime after an hour or two... pumped 1.7V into it and it's stable now at least.
Will push harder on it tonight and see how I go

using the timings, speed etc and also the same win7 x86 OS i used on the XTU comp (the only one currently setup for haswell that will run 3d11) i was scoring in the 112xx range.
some variance between runs though, up to ~50 points or so (wasnt keeping exact counts).
scores are much more consistent with superfetch disabled, but was also slightly lower (depending on score spike, that is). kinda like XTU there, with the ups/down score spikes when re-running.

had speculated with surtr that superfetch might come into the CPU tests on these recent 3dmarks - so cheers for motivating me to put it to the test. not conclusive yet though.

since this is for fun, i'll try and share anything i find out, hope we all do the same :)
curious to see what we can all squeeze out of this part of the bench

    also;
i have a bought copy of 3d11 so was just running a custom "physics test only" run. noticed no matter the preset set in custom, the physics test is always the same, if that helps cut down the run times. i was running from onboard intel GPU so it helped me a heap not sitting there 10mins waiting for the other tests... then the long ass combined arrrrrrrg
afaik it is possible to get a verification link from just doing the physics test, though. it will come up with invalid run etc etc but it will all be there...
not sure if that would be acceptable but just throwing it out there :)

if the weather is still as bad as it has been lately, then tomorrow i will get a fresh win7 installed (might test 64bit first up) and add a wifi dongle, try and knock out something halfway decent :)

plan to sub to this before the end of the day. I wonder if 32Gb helps.

    goodluck with 8 threads sweety.

    heh
you are probably better off dropping 4 sticks of ram out instead of running the full 8, you may get more clocks out of them with the reduced strain on the IMC.
maybe. im no expert in sandy-e..

    Count me in

I think I may need to buy 3dmark 11 first because running the whole thing just for physics sucks

What O/S is best for physics scores in 3dmark11?

I think I remember a while back discovering that 7 gave higher physics scores but lower gpu, and 8 was vice versa...

But now I can't remember if I have that the right way around lol.

cant say for sure, just going by the points difference between my runs (at 2800 cas9-12-12-16 1T, 4500 uncore) and yours (2133 cas9, 4300 uncore), with yours somehow being faster, possibly 8 for physics, 7 for GPU.
im gonna try out win7 64bit first though, my 32bit is trashed after XTU comp..

but someone else will no doubt confirm :)

Watch your secondary timings for this one, thirds nice and tight but secondaries being too tight drops the score off, there's not much to scoring in physics really. A 200pt difference certainly doesn't swing your overall score much.

is that platform specific Jack? or all that youve tested?

    bit of fun really.

3770k, naturally. Maybe change the format to go score, username, cpu, mems, etc.??

before we get too many subs deep. I'm going to assume that nVidia must have physX disabled like on the bot. Or shall I be running a 580 for physX for these runs?

Get haswell then come at me bro

[del] First guy to pm me get a free code[/del]
Does nvidia physx even do anything for 11? I think it was only vantage, but best to keep this cpu and keep it disabled i think.

As above, Im pretty sure physics score is not affected by cpu/gpu setting.
