    Hi all.

I'm in desperate need of a monitor.. (currently using an old LG TV). The X34 has picked my interest but not sure if it's the right thing to buy at this point in time due to all the new "upcoming" monitors. Can currently get it at PLE for $1300 so am quite close to pulling the trigger; however, something inside me is telling me to hold off a little longer. Any insight as to what I should do? Is it a good monitor?! I can't really find to many bad reviews on it but it's also going to be the most expensive monitor I've ever purchased.. heck my 4k TV was slightly under this price tag!

Legends of OCAU, strike me down with your wisdom!

I was going to, but decided to hold on for HDR.

There's a 27 that ticks all the boxes but I'd prefer 34" and ultrawide. It hasn't been released yet, just specs but looks damn nice. Supposedly over $2k USD

My 1080ti should be here sometime next week :)

Could you post a link of said monitor? Don't really know if I'm willing to drop 2k+ on a screen though..

Join the bunch of people that are eternally holding off for the next best thing (x34p was that, still no where in sight lol) while us current owners enjoy it today. Then when the next best thing comes out 9 months after it was supposed to, buy it, and then send it back for a replacement because of dud new tech QC

I wouldn't buy new with the x35 coming, however you may be able to pick up a good deal off someone looking to upgrade/transition.

In same boat as you OP. Been watching this monitor since Boxing Day 2016.

Only have a GTX970 atm so just hoping it will drop to $1000 before pulling the trigger.

The new HDR higher Hz options will push the price range up to $2k. Then you have to iron out the new tech QC issues.

I like to use my U2715H for photoshop, video editing and gaming. Don't like how all UW Gsync monitors are curved now. The X34 is subtle but still curved. 32" Gsync 4K is capped at 60Hz.

Don't see any cost effective solutions for me for at least another 18months

I still don't like the idea of OC 95-100hz. This is essentially a 60Hz panel. I was going to go for the $1180 ebay special but decided to wait and hope for a X34P release. Please Acer Please

Not surprising they 'cheated' (and I think it's HDR-lite too), but even if the HDR is not all it's cracked up to be, native 200Hz will make this superior to the X34s?

I'm expecting the price of said monitor to be around the 2k mark which is far more then I am willing to spend.. might just order the x34 for $1180 delivered

you wont be disapointed, HDR is good but not $900 extra good.

100hz is fine, any more is hard to get those frames anyway and 100hz is epic anything extra is nice but not massive jump up (unless e-leaguer who would go with 1080p 16:9 240hz anyway)

It won't be cheap, and there will be QC issues for the first few batches.

You should still get a lot of enjoyment out of the X34...Not too many unsatisfied customers these days

It looks as though the monitor wasn't ready for Computex. HDR is a lot brighter than SDR especially the monitor is rated at 1000nits VS 300nits for SDR monitors.

Well I ended up ordering one.

It arrived today.. A little bummed with it to be honest.

Scratch on the stand straight out of the box, monitor has quite annoying coil whine on white webpages (such as OCAU).

Can't really test for scanlines as I'm still waiting for my GPU to arrive so can't use G Sync atm.

    Backlight bleed is pretty bad..

To think this monitor has been out for such a time and yet it still suffers the same issues as it did when first released.

Atleast it overclocks to 100hz :paranoid:

    This is my biggest fear...BLB!

Can't anyone make a 34" IPS 3440x1440 100hz Native Monitor with no BLB?!?!?!

I'm considering playing the lottery with a Viewsonic XG2703-GS but they're not immune either
