Looks like it's going to be the best audiophile phone to date. I might even ditch my DAP.

REMOVABLE BATTERIES in a light metal body! I like it a lot. If it isn't prone to bootlooping like G4 and G5, I am getting one for sure.

Nah. Simply because only a small number of smartphones had excellent audio. :p

High res DAC by itself doesn't make something a great audio player. As several generations of iPods demonstrated, even cheap non-high res DAC can make fairly decent audio players.

Anyway, V20 has quad DAC setup, which is used in $1,000+ dedicated DAPs to significantly cut down noise, and apparently comes with a good amp. So, it has a potential for great sound reproduction when combined with mid-/high-end earphones and headphones. I think LG has put a fair effort to woo audiophiles with V20.

I want one. I hate all this new curved edge screen shit. My S7e is just irritating and I would still be using my Note 3 if the GPS was actually functional.

Now to wait and see if I get get it from Telstra...

I had a play with a LG V10 when it came out, and wasn't impressed with it. Was basically like a G4 but crap.. which was surprising considering it was meant to trump the G4 in everything. Hope the V20 is better

I'll be interested to see real reviews when it comes out.

I have a v10 and the dac and inbuilt amp is very very good for the money, and allowed me to sell my portable amp/dac stacks to roll it all in to the phone.

G5's screen brightness/dimness put me off, hopefully V20 isn't like it.
This should be a great phone, and with removable battery it means you can keep it for 4yrs or so, given it's specs I don't think that's unreasonable.

Waiting to find that out as G4, V10, and even G5 are known to bootloop.

the v20 looks so damn awesome, really keen to see how this one turns out. LG has been hit and miss, but they can build an excellent phone every now and then I guess. Not sure how much this is going to cost (or if it'll have dual SIM), but I'm guessing ~$1k which is going to be a stretch to justify...

Available from the 29th and priced at $1065 in South Korea.

Apparently, "Sound Package" bundle will come with HBS-900, PH1, extra battery, and a battery charging cradle for a little bit more.

meanwhile my v10 is still kicking ass.

HTC 10 has the best implementation of audio on a phone that I've used to date. It corrects for hearing ability, headphone quality, impedance and even its own amp by getting you to listen to some test tones and calibrating them accordingly. I am constantly amazed at how good the sound is that comes out of that phone, and its such a simple idea that does away with "does my DAC match my amps/headphone sound signature?" type questions. I know its not the be all and end all, but its certainly innovative, and a lot better than removing the jack or more bits is better DAC marketing...
