30min or so video of the game....

I wonder if it will make a 2006 release? Or will it be 2007...? 2008?

I saw this on SA, it looks massively awesome. But then again I was too lazy to finish GTA:SA, so I doubt I'd get far in this game :)

I watched this yesterday, Will Wright certainly gets my respect for pushing the envelope and trying new things. Looks awesome and the scale of the game is unbelievable. This has moved right up near the top of my most anticipated titles.

Well worth watching the 30 min demonstration video

Well, you certainly can't fault the lack of ambition.

I am really looking forward to this although I shudder at the thought of the number of potential bugs. The Beta testers will be kept nice and busy...

Gamespot says Q3 this year. Going by this demo, which is fairly complete, my hopes are high for it being on schedule.

I'm not sure i like the emphasis on 'shopping', does your 'species' have any functional abilities at all to evolve and develop by themselves?

You kind of missed the point, at least skip through it, it advances an awful lot from the first stages.

When he zoomed out and out and out and out...... I was impressed.

But then again I was already drooling at the creature design.

Holy crap, just watched the video.
    That game looks f*n amazing!
Imagine how long a single game of it could last!
I am so getting this, and upgrading to the necissary specs, when its released.

this game assuming the specs for the game are decent. its going to be a massive hit.

i was really hit by near the end by the galaxy thing. awwwsome.

still. starting from a little organism to grow in to a creature and then to creatures and then a city got me hooked. ufo really is awsome.

I didn't particularily like the preview. Ill agree its a cool concept. But the initial stages seemed pretty much just like lots of little puzzle games one after the other. Even the later stages just seem like simplistic versions of many different games thrown together. He even describes them as such :(

The evolutionary changes hardly seemed evolutionary either
Everytime an egg was laid, he seemed to be able to essentially create a new creature from scratch... I'd prefer it if the evolutions came more often but you were only allowed a small number of changes with each one.

And the UFO stage did'nt appeal much either... Id need to know more about it but from this preview, I get the impression that stage of the game would be either too complex or too simplistic (i'd lean towards the latter)

Edit: I will say however, that Im very impressed by the dynamic nature of the game :)

    This looks great.

Simple and effective is the name of the game here.
I think that if the game attempted to detail all the elements of evolution, I suspect we'd get a glorified spreadsheet rather then a game (and way to complicated for the average gamer).

It will be interesting to see how the hardware keeps up (I realise it's a little early). I can't remember the last time I experienced a "smooth" zoom effect (especially transitioning between world levels). :-(

Looks pretty interesting however I think once you get the UFO it will be gay. It will become repetitive and I think thats when I wil be starting from the begininning again!

Well the game does load in other people's organisms from the net/server to try balance the egosystem.
