I have never owned my own console as i have always been a pc gamer but i recently sold my pc as it was costing to much to upgrade all the time to get decent frame rates on the latest games and i needed money to get my car registered.

So the other day i went and bought a Xbox 360 Elite.

I have a Benq V2400 monitor that has HDMI full HD with 1:1 pixel mapping.

I have a cheap low end pc still for normal internet surfing duties and i put my 360 next to it. PC is hooked up via DVI and 360 via HDMI @ 1080P.

For audio the elite uses the port that you would use for standard AV for a dongle with RCA audio and Optical. I have the PC hooked into my Z5500's via analog 2ch on Stereo1 and the 360 via Optical (wow the Z5500's come alive on optical audio streaming music from my pc, sucks you can't copy music directly from the pc to the 360 HDD only rip from CD *sigh*).

It is a great setup can switch between the PC and 360 with ease. Having it all in the one setup makes it easy to chill and switch between the two.

The deal i bought the 360 Elite and Halo3 ODST pack from EB games which came to $438 or so a good deal considering a decent graphics card will cost me around that much and probably not be as smooth as the 360 in months-years to come.

The only issue i have is how loud the DVD drive is but i found ripping the games to the HDD and playing them off the HDD gives me near silent gaming.

I have officially moved to the Console side and was excited so had to post this :)

Welcome to the dark side brother. I got sick of upgrading 5 years ago and am still using a P4 with AGP for my main PC at home.

Never have to worry about upgrading the 360. Everything just works... well most of the time.

I played Gears of War 1/2 at my local Net Cafe on the 360's there i sure will be grabbing that one for sure.

I went from a i7 920 @ 3.8ghz dual 4870's etc to a 3500+ and 8600GT and to be honest i don't really notice a difference doing my msn and internet surfing. I have gotten alot better today with shooting on Halo 3 ODST i can jump shot with snipers now.

Not sure about best game ever :p It was a touch easy as there was no punishment for dying in the camaign, which encouraged me to kill as many tanks as I could with my repair gun.

If you need any help looking for cheap games to buy check out www.ecogamer.com it's a great site. Alternatively you can always ask in here :D

I got my 360 a year ago, and I'm still catching up on the massive back catalogue of great games.

Does the "it" in this sentence refer to the Xbox or the PC?

I couldnt resist and bought a PS3 a while ago, but what stopped me buying a xbox 360 as well was that I just cannot get used to FPS games with controllers....keyboard and mouse is just so natural. Maybe its just me?

Moved to an xbox 360 a couple of months ago... Simply amazing for such a cheap piece of equipment...

$239 for the arcade with four games thrown in (Harvey Norman special), since then.. added a 20gb hard disk and upgraded to an Elite..

    Games you should try out..

Burnout Paradise.. Amazing fun and fast .. and non quite your typical racing games.. clocked up quite a few hours on this.. Plays extremely well..

If your are into Jap RPGs..

Tales of Vesperia - I haven't played a jap RPG since Zelda 3 / Secret of mana / Lunar /.. But this game is absolutely gorgous to look at. Battle sequences are nice, beautiful storyline and voice acting... I'm about 60% of the way thorugh 35hours of game play.. using a walk through.... I've got limited free time.. this game has wasted a lot of it...

The first player shooters haven't impressed me so. (just tried Halo ODST) Guess its' not quite my cup fo tea...

For those looking for a good deal on a console...
$399 get you an Elite with 120gb HDD and Halo 3 ODST and COD WAW at BigW.. offer expires 28/9/2009 I think...

Halo 3 ODST is worth $87 as a tradein at EB games till 28/9/2009...
COD WAW is worth $20 as a tradein at EB games, or can be used as tradein bait at game...

One of the few unfortunate issues the 360 has. Though it's not all bad - your discs will last longer, games will load faster, and it'll be nice and silent.

PS. Get Crackdown. It can be found for probably less than $30 these days and it's an awesome 360 exclusive.
