Are there any unlocked bioses (raised power limit) out there?

Have you got stats on how well they have been clocking on average?

I can't wait to give my Zotac a run, I hope its not crippled in trade for being shorter ...

I wouldn't have thought the score was super high. His strong CPU will give a big overall score, because 3Dmark. I've only been looking at 970 firestrike scores, but that graphics score of his stock 980s is basically spot on equal with the top overclocked 2x 970 graphics score, so sounds about right to me.

My 2x 970s best run was 24,000 graphics score, but that was just a quick bash not trying too hard for max benches. At day to day overclocks it runs at 22,500 graphics score on firestrike.
Oh but my piddly 7,900 physics from my 3570k @4.2 lol ;)

This is a very interesting series of cards indeed. Crysis 3 is running maxed out at 72fps at 1080p, can't believe I've had to turn on vsync.

For those wondering about coil whine on the EVGA ACX2.0 cards, mine has none.

So is there any news on when the 8GB versions of the 980's are dropping?

Would of thought the 9xx vram compression effectively makes the 4GB 980 a 5-6GB

Well from what i gather, AMD will be adding 8GB 290x on a few more cards. So nvidia will be adding 8GB to compete.

    Hi Guys,

Pretty keen to get a 970 and was looking at the Asus Strix, reviews appear to positive. But I just realised it is pretty much the most expensive 970 available.

    Is it worth it?

And are there any cons to the Asus, MSI and Gigabyte 970's?

Booted up Serious Sam, the second encounter.
1920x1200, all details set to max, full AA/Ansio and my 970 Gaming G1 just laughs at it.

GPU core sat on 700Mhz or so, ram not much higher.

dont bother unless you wont upgrade for a while - the extra mhz you squeeze out wont be noticable ingame

better off getting a gainward and you should still get another 100mhz on the core and 400 ddr on the memory

Depends what you're after. It's not the fastest factory-overclocked card, and it's cooler may limit its overclocking potential.
That being said, it is damn quiet and the low profile makes it a great fit for smaller cases. The build quality is excellent and it has a backplate.

I have one, and I love it. Granted I paid $413 for it because I got it from Amazon before they a) jacked up the price, and b) before the dollar went south.

For a local buy, there are other cards just as capable - Gigabyte G1 and the Galax ones are popular.

Wouldn't the 950 be a rebadge of the 750ti anyway?
    (pure speculation)

Drove down to MSY after work but was 10 minutes too late to pick up a 980. Was pretty much decided on the Gigabyte G1 edition for OC ability and the back plate. Will go back tomorrow to pick it up, any last minute advice on spending the extra $ for the G1 edition is worth it or if there's an alternate you guys are happy with lately?

Has anyone here with the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 had issue running two 120/144hz monitors off both DVI ports at once?

Was just about to buy it and pick it up tomorrow, but a review mentioned the second monitor will only run at 60hz. Found a few threads that mention the problem as well.
