These are my current settings. Effects are turned down a little to try and minimise the effects of supression (doesn't work).

This card is also running at 8x PCI-e due to my other channel being populated by a 660 which isn't powered but currently in my loop.

If you haven't performed the registry edit for unparking in windows 7 it is likely they do. I found a rather long winded edit that added in this to power management. Much nicer than a very rough registry edit I did the first time. It will still park at low load.

I looked into core parking but when I checked resource manager it didn't show that any of my CPU's were parked so I didn't think I had to do that.

I have never heard of this, never need to find solutions I guess, so its worth a look? Why the heck would cores park under load anyway?

Grabbed a nice shiny Gigabyte GTX970 OC from work this morning, keen to try it out and retire the old HD5850!

I love the look of the little 970 ITX versions coming out. To think they can cram that power into such a compact card, reminds me of the 750 TI.

Tried core parking, same result :(

The GPU usage is at 40 to 44% in Battlefield 4 with the video settings on low (1920 x 1080). On Ultra it's using 100% GPU and I'm getting 45 – 60 FPS.

May have to look into overclocking!

Really not sure if that is any smaller than my reference 970 PCB which is the same as a 670. If so I wonder if they are using 660 PCB's, in which case I have a block for one :D

It is really odd you are struggling so much. How much CPU usage? Mine maxed looks like this. (current/min/max)

Which apps are you using to look at that? Just so I can run the same one.

I'll have to take a look at CPU usage tomorrow.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 980. I won't be mad overclocking/benching, just hoping to use any generic out of the box clocking tools. I'm looking at the cards below (mostly because they are the cheapest 980's at my local store), is one preferred/better than the other?

    eVGA GeForce GTX980 SC ACX 2.0 - $769
    MSI GeForce GTX980 Twin Frozr - $799

Python are you running Razer Synapse by any chance? It was costing me anywhere from 20-30+ fps in Battlefield 4.

Only reason I realised is when I enabled SLI it said to disable Razer Synapse in order to proceed. I disabled and immediately jumped in performance (before hand it was all over the place).

Not sure if this is applicable to yourself or if it is only applicable for those with SLI (and not single card) with Razer Synapse running.

Thought it was worth a mention because even if it doesn't help you (which I hope it does) it may help someone else.

HWiNFO64 is the program I am using. I was using HWMonitor but moved away from it when I was having some stability issues earlier this year. Turned out it was my ram though.... have stuck with HWiNFO64 since then.

Have you checked to ensure you have the latest directX updates as well as the latest .NET? I had a bit of GPU performance drop off a couple of months ago on my 670 and the directx patch/update worked well for me then.

Wow is all I can say, such a huge upgrade. I only had a chance to fire up a couple games, but it is great being able to run them at max settings with no issues at all :D

    This came yesterday:

Bought from the forums as an upgrade for my 580. I still can't believe the difference, it's made a big improvement not just to games but the general system as well. It's like my PC is much "happier" with this card.

Enjoying playing all my old and most of my new games at full settings. One day I'll get another 980 and might be able to finally play ARMA 3 at absolute full settings. One day.

    Hey guys,

I'm playing with Amazon at the moment and apparently I can get an MSI Graphics Cards GTX 980 GAMING 4G shipped to aus for $576.79 delivered.

Is this a good price or can I get it cheaper?

    cheers

Edit: USD559 is about AUD700 at current exchange rate ...
