Just a heads up, if you want a full ALL-in-one cart head over to arcade-projects forums. Basically if you want a modded 161 in 1 cart with every NEOGEO game on it. A much cheaper option than getting a darksoft or terroronion cart.

The guy doing the cart mods (rewrite) has spare parts to do more mods, but not enough 161 in 1 carts (it needs to be a 161 in 1 v3 one). So if you supply him a cart he will mod it for you (with costs for his parts + time). Just giving a heads up here as i'm not sure how long this will be the case.

edit: just to be clear this is legit - i have my "all-in-one" cart from him and it works perfectly

If you can get the Darksoft one it's pretty awesome. I'd go with the 161 in 1 that Flain posted if I was in the market at the moment. Wouldn't buy a NeoSD because Teraonion are a bunch of numpties. If you do go the NeoSD, buy it through stoneage gamers so your support is fronted by them because going direct to Teraonion is that painful.

I think one of the main objectives with the homebrew 161 is to get rid of all the hacks and bootlegs and get as many clean ROMs working as possible.

    Here is the list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16aCpPoJxHt-60g2U6N9eUfncmFS8n7z6DWqIOujL-qs
Basically every official game release, if you want xenocrisis on the cart you need to pay for it or provide proof of purchase since it's still current.

One thing to note is if you want the ability to go back to the games menu, then you need a modded unibios, otherwise you need to power cycle the neogeo. It's still better than a TO or darksoft though IMO, since there is no flashing that needs to be done to load games into "slots" and stuff like that, all the games are ready to play.

Those didn't make the cut, i'm not sure if the cart got full or not. There was some discussion and a lot of the newer homebrew games either wouldn't fit or weren't considered worthy heh

NGDEV are very, very strict about how their releases are made available. They've never supported a paid ROM option and will move swiftly to shutdown any efforts to create dumps of their games. I have even seen a situation where a legit Kraut Buster owner asked to buy a replacement case insert because his got damaged, and NGDEV refused on the basis that it might be used to support a bootleg.

That makes sense and is probably the reason. I know with Xenocrisis they allow you to purchase the rom. Makes it easy for the guy making the all in one cart because he can just charge you more and buy the rom (or ask to see your receipt).

I really like the Bitmap Bureau approach of offering standalone paid ROMs. If you buy the physical media, you also get a free download link to the ROMs -- for Neo Geo, they're pre-packaged to support DarkSoft, NeoSD and (I think?) MAME. :) However, BB have commented that a paid ROM option won't be available for the Neo Geo version of Final Vendetta because the carts incorporate some additional required hardware.

Interesting, i don't think flashing speed is a major concern for those of us with multi carts. However the cheaper price is definitely a big plus going for it

Yeah they think load speed is some kind of flex. I really don't get it. Price, quality and support are all that matters to me.

I usually have my multi in my 4 slot neogeo with other games, so i'm not really changing the game in the multi that much. I see it more as a nice cart to have in there because i can put a new game in rotation easily and unless i'm changing a game it's behaving like any other game cart (game just comes up in neogeo attract mode loop, next game button cycles through as normal). It's also less hassle than actually plugging in a cart to change a game, since half the time something doesn't work, like audio or whatever and i need to clean contacts or re-insert a few times :). This new cart might also be great for that exact usecase, as long as it works that way (pick a game, cart stays as that game through power on/off, cart boots to game by default (not menu), until you pick another game etc).

The All in one modded 161 in 1 cart is perfect for anyone with a 1 slot neogeo. Id actually say, the best option for 1 slots IMO, since there is no need to flash games before play. I keep it in a mv1c i've got in another cab.

That's exactly my setup, though I would like Xeno Crisis to be included, I hate swapping carts in that setup as it's quite forcefully in the slot. I have the Xeno Crisis cart, which I do love, but it's a hassle to swap in and out. Yes these are first world problems lol.

Yeah, I have the Darksoft cart and usually I just load the one game I am working on a 1CC for. A few more or less seconds loading or switching games really isn't an issue for me.
