Nice, thanks for the above! Based on those, the layout of the board I prefer on top of my list now is the MSI B650M Gaming plus WIFI, if I can find it
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/65910/msi-mag-b650m-gaming-plus-wi-fi-ddr5-motherboard EDIT: Check that the board actually supports the 9000 series CPU's, and it does.
Yeah thanks, I did check and it has bios flashback which helps. There is a couple around Brisbane in some shops, will take a quick drive tomorrow Thanks!
Purely based on the layout. I either need optical out, a top slot pcie for a sound card, or a full size atx for the soundcard at the bottom
I missed your edit. This is the kit. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/mem...lVt361Uy1cjzFnxKmPzLfMYcAQ3GWEt1#tab-overview My basic assumption is that its SR.
Should be fine at EXPO then, I think I lucked out with getting 2x32GB stable at EXPO, that or Zen5 has improved since the previous gen. Memory overclocking and subtimings is a bit of a rabbit hole I don't have time for these days
Yeah I has fun pushing my memory to its max when I had time. Now I just to do simple plug and play, and undervolt to save on temperatures and power, Brisbane is hot enough, and Im still adjusting to this crazy climate
Just noticed.. I don't think the MSI B650m-a or gaming plus has Pcipexress 5.0 NVME SSD support .. if that matters to you.. and no PCI-express 5.0 on the Graphics adaptor as well.. The TUG B650m-E wifi has a PCeixpress 5.0 NVME slot..
Ended up pulling the trigger on an open box version of the Gigabyte B650m Aorus Elite AX for $240, with full original warranty, will pick it up today
Nice board… i have a couple myself… At over $300 new.. terrible value At $240 .. its a no brainer.. Hopefully you get the get intel wifi on it.. And one of the earlier revisions.. I think the later ones 1,3 … cut back the vrms slightly to save costs (listed as a twin 12+2+2 phases digital VRM, the older 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 listed as Twi 12+2+1 digital 60A smart power stage on 2x copper PCB, the 1.1 has the intel solution for WIFI. Got a little bit unlucky,it is indeed the rev 1.3, ah well, price was still decent. Hopefully my CPU arrives tomorrow as expected so I can assemble it all
Interesting to see Thermal Grizzly selling Delidded R9 9800X3D Processors w/ 2 Year warranty with a future plan to offer the 9950X3D as well:
It's a pretty large markup (~$300 AUD) for a minor service (delid) and an insurance policy. I'd just wager my bets against the chip being fine and delid myself for a fraction of the cost ($70). More importantly, with decent water cooling you don't really even need to delid these CPUs. Perhaps on air it makes a bigger difference? But do they even sell air coolers that suit delided Ryzen 9000?
TG do sell a few a direct die frame and a high performance IHS. Kinda tempted to see how they perform on air but at the same time.....eh
Geez the newer stuff runs hot. All default, gaming my 9800x3d runs bang into the 95 degree thermal limit. -20 on the curve optimiser and now it's maxing out just into the 70's. Under a Thermalright Frost Commander 140.
