FFS GEO restricted AGAIN. Ripped off because of where I live.

This just occurred to me and it seemed easier to ask the question now instead of have problems when my preordained victory happens.

I have used a disposable ten minute e-mail account to register for GTC in previous iterations of this competition. Is that then going to cause problems when the verification happens or is it only verification that I live in one of the permitted states?

I don't have access to your registration info within the GTC system, so I don't know what email you use to sign up. That line about verification just means I will check you have a valid entry, part of which is being in one of the permitted states. The other two main things are that you post a screenshot as requested and you haven't posted more than once in the entries thread.

Thanks. Much easier to ask now instead of have an argument (which I would automatically lose) later.

Here we go again, thanks Agg, OCAU and JH.

The only question I have is what sort of clout one must have to be able to get this sort of a signed card ?

Does that mean we cannot use previously used signup details ?

Wow... would love to know the backstory behind Agg scoring one of these to give away. Are there any other Aussie tech sites running a similar giveaway?

I imagine Jensen had dropped into the Agg cave one day for brandy and cigars and they got chatting. This is the result.

Hmm, it does say you must create a new account. That part of the instructions is provided by the GTC side of the contest. I've asked them for clarification.

For those upset about not being in an included state.. sorry dudes, but it's due to the expensive, complex or otherwise onerous conditions imposed on trade lotteries in your state. You could petition your local member or get some kind of groundswell action going to address this issue. I see those states excluded from pretty much every game-of-chance contest and it's been this way for decades so surely could be reviewed by someone. Other states make it simpler by having no requirement for a permit if there's no cost of entry and the prize value is under a certain amount. In places where you do need a permit there's usually attached complexity such as having to file the terms and conditions with them and get approval for them to be changed etc. There are also substantial penalties if you get it wrong. So I can see why everyone just puts those states into the too hard basket, unfortunately.

I do try to run some contests as "games of skill" such as the messiest desk contest we had recently. I am definitely open to suggestions for other skill-based ways I can determine a contest winner for giveaways.

The official answer is: They can use their previous accounts; creating a new account is not mandatory but rather a bonus for our event. However, logging in through the designated link is a MUST to register and watch, allowing NVIDIA to track event performance and support its continuation.

So remember to sign up or visit via the official link, kids!

I'm probably just making this up, but my headcanon is that the same conditions imposed on trade lotteries, are also something to do with the fact that we don't have pokies in every pub and TAB, so I'm taking that as a consolation prize >_>
