It looks like there are a few options now, including shunt modding, though maybe harder to manage power/clocks/temps.

    https://www.hardwareluxx.de/communi...ing-und-modding-thread.1364991/#post-30739265

Its good that it's possible, but just a software flash or PPT would be more ideal, I recall putting the Vega 64 liquid bios on the Vega 56 was almost too easy.

It wasn't the long ago that the was a 9070 Pulse for $999, though the trick is cooling it.

For those wanting to really go bang for buck, you could use a ghetto rig up a cheap waterblock like this, though not sure what the hole spacing is on these cards?

I've done it a few times, a while back with a reference 1080 and later a 1080 Ti, tbh both ran about the same temperatures as the EK block I fitted (~40C) though of course lower TDP cards.

Also just rando budget AIO's with some minor drilling. That's my Vega 56 pictured, also ran ~ 50-55C IIRC with the 64 liquid bios, as they were HBM I only needed some airflow for the VRMs.

the risk of shunt mods gone wrong is too great for the small reward

if you're willing to throw money away on your card when it fails from some half arsed physical mod, buy a better card in the first place

Gotta risk it for the biscuit, but whatever you have the appetite for. From my perspective, I'm more comfortable scribbling a little bit of circuit pen on the pcb than hardware flashing eeproms.

I've done quite a few shunt mods over the years on Nvidia cards and never had any trouble with it, though I would avoid the liquid metal method.

    well yeh.
the least they could have done is make it a red screen .

it is a subliminal message to buy AMD stock . now!

the AI is taking over! i have no qualms or guilt. have bought merch. will buy more in the future. they can take some ragging and get over it.

    That's not normal.

I would start by changing HDMI or DP cable.

Newer GPUs use HDMI 2.1, worth investing in a nice 48 Gbps HDMI cable in my experience.

    I like these Ubluker ones.

Crap cables especially crap DP cables can cause all kinds of issues. I'd swap cables as well and see what it does.

HDMI cable quality can vary wildly because the standard is so shit. That's why I prefer DP cables.

I have a feeling this is a 4k cable already though...
If it's the cable I'm thinking it is
I got it with a marantz upgrade kit due to an incompatibility issue with xbox

My screen is the same with my RX 9070 via HDMI to a LG HDTV @4k60Hz using W11, as it was with my old 3060ti.
