nice man... depth of the Karlby top is definitely lacking at only 64cm... i'd recommend something similar to the depth of the Bekant at around 80cm.

i've got to say.. updating to firmware 1.0.2 was the best thing i've done... auto white balance is so much better now.. woohoo!! more accurate!...
at least your usb and cd drives are still useable! :D... our one has safeend protected so only authorised usbs are allowed.
Well.. i've jumped ships after seeing what the D700 could do from a colleague and really wanted the low light performance from this camera. ;)...

I don't get any vignetting on my D700. Stop it down to F4 and its tack sharp! Here are some experiences with this combo from other ppl....
50mm 1.8 - $150 Tamron 28-75 f2.8 - around $450ish... ;)
You can use the DX lenses on the D700... however it'll reduce the MP from 12 to 5. Check out the manual! ;)
i'd say go for the 30mm... i find the 50mm a little too long for your cropped body.
