I don't think so. I don't like gigashyte but a few members here got some good results on 10th gen with aorus elite. It's a decent budget board imo.

Yep apparently gigabyte isn't compatible with the little thai waterblock...

Only Asus boards show SP score in bios unfortunately.

Haven't had an intel chip since my 6800K, bought a prebuilt just before christmas so I could get a GPU for my main desktop :p. Came with a 10700F, thought I'd have a play with it. Stock cooler on there, holy shit, what a pos. 100c doing a wprime or a cinebench R20 and throttle city. Ripped that thing off the same day I got it.

Chucked on a trusty old Noctua NH12 I found in the garage, I like that the intel mounts are the same since 1156! It seems to have a good mount, and I've remounted twice now, both fans running on the cooler with the 4.6 all core boost and I'm still getting high 80's during a wprime benchmark. It doesn't seem to be throttling which is nice, but that temp still seems mighty high. This is just running dead stock though, so I'm surprised at those temps. Researching in this thread seems to point to the shit solder that intel use on the heatspreader, I guess undervolting is probably about the only way I can try and get this thing to stop cooking?

Solder is junk. Delided mine here. Winter time with decent watercooling 54x would see max temps like 55c

Looking to upgrade my “just game” pc platform from 4th gen intel to either z490 or b550. Eyeing off the 10400f or 3600. Current pricing has them at $230 new vs. $240 second hand. What’s the current wisdom on this topic?

idea is to do an in socket upgrade down the line to ryzen 5000 or 11th gen intel when stock levels normalise.

    appreciate the input here.

thanks saw this, not overly conclusive. 10400f is one that keeps coming up of late. Think I might hold out till I can grab one of the new ryzen chips or a cheaper 10600k second hand (not a fan of locked chips)

I can get a i7 10700k (avengers edition) for $485 and can pair it with a MSI z490 tomahawk ($330) which is I guess is similar in pricing compared to a 5600x ($500-550) and a ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming ($289).

Is it worth the waiting until stock comes to get PCIE gen4 or is the 2 extra cores better in the long ran or just wait until 11th gen...

10700K is really good imo, much better than i9 9900KS cos 10700K overclocks better and runs cooler(thanks to new thicker IHS) and also come with 3 years warranty not 1 year.
And I didn't notice any performance increase with 10900K over 10700K even on bench.

Btw do you have link for the $485 10700KA? thanks

Thoughts on whenever it is worth getting pcie gen4 or waiting until 11th gen release?

My i5 7600k died the other day, I'm in no real rush to buy but if I can get something decent now I would consider
