Not even Intel would be game to release a new arch in only ~6 months?

The new mobo is arse. I thought it would at least be like Haswell Refresh i.e. a small bump on the same socket.... though they were probably forced into it due to MOAR POWER haha

Backported 10nm onto 14nm. They've probably been working on that for a while, I'd bet ever since 10nm stalled and AMD released Zen.

I just started reading about the new MB boards, many high end boards seem to be outfitted with 90A SPS. Nice to see motherboard vendors are not making boards with crap VRM this time around. :p

Edit: Looks like MSI Z490I Unify will be my go to board, cant say no to 10 layer PCB I remember only Z390 Dark and Z170 MOCF have 10 layer PCB...

Interestingly the new PWM ICs on some boards also controls the VCCSA now, it appears that rocket lake coming later will control VCCSA via VID.

at least they're hyperthreaded across the board.
and ipc boost will keep them up.

Skip.....Next upgrade will either be the next Zen or rocket lake depending on gaming performance.

Base clockspeed : 'Up to' ... So not really a base clockspeed then?

Anyway the pricing's not super terrible - for Intel at least. It's a decent drop from current pricing on the i7 8 core's and brings them not far off the perf/$ of Ryzen 3000, so that's something. Certainly not a price war of any kind though.

HT on the hex cores brings competition to the 3600 finally, but like for like pricing, looks like they'll still be outperformed still (10400F / 10500 ) based on the clockspeeds, better off swallowing the extra for the unlocked models

I'd say very much so. The 10600K is the top binned die this time round so you'll hit some pretty high OCs

Isn't there some thing where those "125W" CPU's were pulling 250W+ under typical load?

    Is this Intel's FX-9590?

Yeah, they should be fun to OC. but by the time you get a suitable board and suitable cooling, unless you are just doing it for the sake of it, you then have to wonder are you better off with a B450+ a 3700X

There is rumor around of Intel enabling Overclocking on B460, which obviously change things somewhat

Fuck that noise, I can feel the extra heat in summer from a 3600 + 2060 Super already, I don't want a furnace chewing 3x as much power at 2x the cost for 5% better frames (and that's basically if I'm not GPU bound)

    I'm excited.
Feels like all my posts here are just defending the existence of the 10900k lol, but hey, someone needs to balance out the rampant exaggerated 'but AMD is nearly as good for half the price' 'hurr overpriced durrrrr' posts.

For people who just want the gaming king CPU and do care about that extra 5-10% and dabbling in gaming OC/benchmarks, it looks delicious. Looks like a pretty solid motherboard line up too. I've been using Asus since forever and they've always been good to me, but considering trying out the EVGA dark this time...

Sure I agree 10 cores sound great. Very nice for 3D scores. :D It's a bitter pill for me though.
Having purchased many combo's :Paranoid: Intel since Ivybridge days and my learning on 3570K. It's just way too much dollar spent.

LoL here we go again. Are my high bin's watercooled 4,6,8 cores rendered useless with these new parts?

What makes you think the 10900K will be any better at gaming than a 10700K? . Per core performance is going to go up about 2%. OC headroom ditto, and 10cores isn't going to put a dent in anything on the MT side. I just don't see how anyone could be excited by that prospect when Rocket lake is what, 6mths away?

I agree the new CPU are interesting but for me while better gaming performance is nice but the issue I see is the increased cost to cool the i9. A stock 9900K draws about 180-190W at stock now it is gonna be even harder with additional cores.

For me the mother boards of 10th Gen are more interesting than CPUs.

We need to see the performance number, but I am holding back my 9900KS purchase for now. 9900KS is still good.
