The problem lies in the data and way it's been delivered.

A - Processors able to exceed specification
    B - Processors meeting specification
C - Processors quality below specification

This, if the data is correct should total 100% for each chip. Someone needs to be sacked.

Asrock is a worse offender than Asus, terrible configuration than competing boards for the same price...

Seems like a total waste of time even going to the trouble and expense of doing the mask for the 10 c Chips. Especially if RKT lake is not even a full cycle away?

It's just going to gain extra reputation for being a furnace, and still get flogged by even a 3900x in the only metric you bother adding more cores for - MT performance! Should have just kept playing to the process's strengths (lower core counts , high freq) by refreshing the 8 cores, and be done with it.

Yep pretty much. I think it only exists to keep the product/price tiers the same as before, so they could move the more sensible 8c/16t part to i7 and so on. Intel don't like to cut prices directly, so they have to work around that.

Seems to me they are trading off a reputation hit to appease their investors.

    IF these leaks are true...
The chips should have been buried in a very deep hole.

Every time I get an itch to come back to XOC I look at the state of hardware pricing and forget all about it. I stopped mostly in haswell/devil canyon days before it went completely crazy. The flagship mainstream chips then were sub $400. Killer and capable boards could be had for sub $300. I picked up many gene's for around the $250 mark, gigabyte had some good offerings too. Even flagship graphics cards were under the $1000 mark. Now days you need half a decent car to buy into the platform nevermind binning through cpus for that golden sample.

    That really doesn't look right.

Hitting 93c when running at 4.8Ghz and being fed less than 1.2v with a 280mm AIO? That would be significantly hotter than a 9900k at the same voltage, even though Intel have purposefuly thinned the die to improve heat transfer.

I think it's either bullshit to get traffic to the site, or the person running it needs to reseat their cooler (or not use bubblegum as their thermal paste).
