Save your money champ. It's the processors end of year that should be real good.
This is sell off failure time. Tick tock

Back next Thurs and I can set up the HOF and 4266 RAM so you can really show me how to OC. .

Not a good time with covid shit. 20% up prices have gone in the pc shops here. Then your punished buying early anyway.

    Think on the good processor we had. 4770K > 4790K. 6700K > 7700K. 8700K > 8086K. 9900K > 9900KS
All are improved models 2nd time around. Buying now is the junk release cycle. Sure there will be better ones in the mix for hype. Chances are low lottery. 1 in 10 always, we know this.

You are spot on with the k and ks.
They must have had the ks in the beginning and were just holding them back to make more $$$$

Take notice of mAJORD he is a smart chap :) 10 core that's gonna be processor close on opposite sides IHS. Lets see deliding that :wired:

The thing is many on the forum buy real good expensive hardware. Me included. But then circumstances change and we sell little use items.
Board. I would wait. Even 3-4 weeks from the high pricing.

I've been happy for s/h many times. Picked up some great boards recently. x299 Dark + Apex IV. Then a Apex 11. I've saved money ... boards are tight as a nuns nunny. :Paranoid:
I know that plugging in peripherals.

Winter time ha  think I'd be doing some overclocking. Learnt my lesson 14 core x299 doing OC. Smashed my solar batteries early morning.
Doing the opposite. Less cores less energy.

Replacing the plasma. It pulls 300-500 watts. New TV 100 watts. Out with my hybrid valve amp 140 watts.
Makes you think very different off grid 24/7

for those keen to pre-order what is your reasoning?

Ultimate gamer? Ultimate bencher? 5.5ghz yo? Hate AMD? Want this + AMD 4000 series? (gotta catch em all')

I love my intel but Surely Ryzen 4900X is going to smoke this thing.

Unless its a good 10% better gaming, 4900X would be my choice for extra cores + running cooler.

I am sure there is gonna be ppl who wants to buy the newest tech toys to play this. I think the issue is this platform is only gonna last half of a year before rocket lake is out. No body in the right mind should buy anything above i5 the pricing just do not make any sense...

For me, i havent had/built a PC for 6+ years so im keen to get back into it. I would get Zen3, but seems like AM4 will probably only last another year.

I'd only be looking at the lower end i5's

From people that tested the 10th gen CPU's, the i9 9900k is comparable to the new i5 10600k. May there's a substantial increased IPC. So not just clock speed

I think you will find that IPC will be similar to 6700K with desktop parts and it is only the laptop 10th gen that have a IPC boost but happy to be wrong.

NDA is apparently he 20th so we will know then.

Just put in a pre-order for a 10900K and a Gigabyte Z490 AORUS MASTER Motherboard.

Currently running the i9 9900k and same motherboard but the Z390 chipset. Ive got all cores currently running at 5ghz so I know performance won't be that much better- but headroom for higher overclocks will be great to tinker with.

    Reasons (they aren't good)
    - I'm trying to support local business through hard times (will you guys buy that one?)
    - Understand that in terms of performance, AMD's offerings in the future will most likely be better- but for gaming, which is the only thing i care about even though their architecture is older/less power efficent, it just runs better. I know this comes down to intels trickery in terms of relationships with software vendors, but for me if it performs better in games, thats all i care about.
    - Getting ready for rocket lake- having a pcie ready board will be advantageous once intel finally gets around to supporting it properly.
    - I just love tech :(

Don't hurt me- if anything, use my stupidity for your advantage- i'll do some significant benchmarking prior to installation with the i9 9900K at all core 5GHZ to compare to the 10900K at standard clocks, also report back on overclocking capability.

I'll do some in game comparisons between the two in CPU intensive games like RDR2 at 3440x1440.
