How's everyone's idle temp with 12900k? I'm hitting around mid 50s idle with a 360 AIO fans at 900rpms quiet mode. Seems kinda high. Max temp when running cinebench is around mid 80s with fan running 2500rpm and sounding like a jet engine taking off. Undervolted CPU with 0.08 offset already.

Keep an eye on package power say via hwinfo64 or VRout while at said idle. To be in the 50's would suggest either package power remains over 30-40w, which wouldn't really be idling, your C states aren't configured right, or your cooler mounting might need to be rechecked. On this note, also check individual core temps to see if there's a pattern for which cores (and thus physically which side of the CPU) is running hot.

What should my C state be and how do I check it? that could be it. Package power sits around mid 50W.

Ok found the C States settings and set it to Enabled/Enabled/C8. I can see package is dropping below 30W now. Lets see how the temp goes.

Edit: :looks much better now. thanks guys!

Interesting, so your BIOS default C states value was disabled on a 12900K?

I would've thought that could happen only after applying a custom vcore offset.

If you went to BIOS defaults, and C states were disabled by default, that's just... Shit haha.

That is possible too. I did add a -0.08V offset. But even before that the temps were pretty high so I don't think it was enabled by default. Whole reason I went in to add the offset was to lower the temp.

It does, but aside from yourself, shane, spit, there's hardly anyone who would truly take advantage of a board like this though, so it's pretty much a major overpriced product for 99% of people.

    Disagree on this mate.
It actually make more sense for an enthusiastic to have a set up like that with a nice 3090 kpe and may be watercooling. Then there's various levels of cooling you can do benchmarks with. Stock, chilled, phase etc. In most cases you don't need to insulate it and potentially wreck it. Love the look of it and the built quality. Seems like a part to begin for a beautiful system :)

True, even more so, as your oc headroom is almost entirely given by the silicon quality, and not the PCB. Even the PSU would be more important. I have learned my lesson, wasting a lot of $$ in the process.

Still, nice to see such a well designed, beautiful high end product.

Fair enough! But there are many "nice" boards that don't need to cost more than the GPU haha.

I have to agree, these boards will be useless to 90% of people.. you know, that want to put them in a case.

I just want a mobo that's priced like a real mobo.

God damn they're ridiculously priced these days. I love the M2 slots and USB ports of the higher ones but tbh don't care about the OC ability anymore (save some minimal ram tweaking)

All good, Different opinions and reasons to buy or not. I reckon is worth it compared to other items needed for a daily system, but someone else may think to save 200 bucks on the mobo to spend it in a faster ssd :upset:
