I imagine they will go live with ol mate Pattie going like "569 USD, and available now" towards the end of the keynote.

I'm keen to upgrade my 6700k that has served me well, had a motherboard die but I swapped it out and the CPU is going strong. Motherboard replacement was not a cost effective but I know someone who would benifit from a second hand PC (that's still excellent at most things with a fresh OS install) and I valued keeping it out of landfill/e-waste a lot.

I spoke to a retailer and he confirmed that stock exists, but I think those i7/i9 parts will be snapped up by both scalpers and Christmas shoppers alike. I'm personally hoping for a decent bundle deal to snag a GPU of some reasonable caliber but unsure if i want to go in at i7 or i9. If moore's law is dead is to be believed the little cores are zen2 level.

For what its worth here is keynote countdown.

EDIT: just got some ads for DDR5 on my phone, havn't had that before. TeamGroup looks like they are going to have a lot of supply, considering they are advertising and they have actually been on the shelves at mwave for a while now. $459 for 32gb 4800mhz and some poor timings, but ECC though...

PLE Only one to release the prices bang on time:

    i9 12900K, 1059
    i9 12900KF, 1009
    i7 12700K, 729
    i7 12700KF, 699
    i5 12600K, 519

New i9 is more expensive than 5950x on discount and comes with the shit load of cost that is 'the platform.'

DDR5 is $200 for a 16gb kit but you get what you pay for, good specced 5200mhz kits look like they will be just under 500 each.

Motherboards are fucked, start at $350 and your Tuff gaming is sitting at $539, DDR5 boards start at 599.

This is just PLE but nobody else has published.

Ridiculous mb prices… 1.2k for the Asus Hero. Let’s see how AL performs when we have proper reviews.

    Forget that then
There's no reason our excuse for that unless they're all the top end boards...

Do we know if there's any real benefit in selecting ddr5 at this stage? Or do we need to wait until the embargos lift. I feel like on surface starting with ddr4 now and waiting a little bit until things mature is the right move?

AMD lost around 15% performance in Windows 11 before patch, the benchmarks compare 12900k to 5950X before the patch was applied. I think I'll wait before I take the plunge, these pre-order prices from PLE are way more than USD conversion prices.

Even the i5 is to expensive and all the well featured boards look trash IMO, waiting for zen 3 price cuts :D

I doubt we will see any cuts.. At least until Vcache... Given the total cost of moving to AL + 690 + DDR5... AMD does not need to change anything..

Yeah its like $1.2k for a i5, ddr5 board and ram I don't see AMD being too worried.

The AMD comparisons being based off a buggy W11 build that costs a significant amount of performance is not great.

Those Mobo prices surely a joke. The CPU prices are really good in the lower end SKUs , but if that's anywhere near the typical platform premium then , ahh no.

For gaming ,DDR5 Still likely to be a disadvantage not an advantage vs a Top ddr4 kit, so paying significantly extra for both D5 Mobo and RAM makes little sense at this stage.. certainly before reviews. Once the DDR5 ecosystem matures and higher frequency+ lower latency kits become affordable will be a different story I guess. As always.

Of course there's the dilemma of future proofing platform of course , but Is personally just wait a bit if DDR5 was a must
