    This is pretty fascinating stuff.

Any comments by experts around here? Could it be a Dyson Sphere !

Just read and looked at the dates of the arxiv references and it seems legit... ^_^

Sure it's not an April fools thing?

A small radio star in close orbit with a larger body moving at a constant speed to/from the earth?

    oh dear.

How can the observation of a pattern indicate intelligent life?

Are these guys religious or something?

You must have missed this bit... "No known natural process can explain this"...

You sound like a scientist from the 1800's - therefore God/Little Green Men must exist.

The important word in your statement is "known".

Could you please provide counter evidence to show that these are natural occurrences.

Thanks. I really look forward to your findings.

That's right. The key word is "known". It appears you know more than these scientists. Could you please explain to us in detail?

    Thanks.

    You should see my moustache!

As listed in the article and posters above, there are a host of plausible reasons for these signals. And near the end of this list of plausible reasons is the item labelled 'artificial signal'. Any mathematical pattern in any signal detected off planet will automatically have such a item in its list of causes. Why? Because its how we would send signals out into the universe.

We really need some omnidirectional radio wave receiver satellites out in our solar system so we can triangulate these signals.

No, the burden of proof is on them to prove that they are not natural.

    Do you even science?

I also never claimed to know more - their hypothesis, while sound has no evidence.

Looks like you can't. You can never prove anything in science.

not completely no because if there's one thing science does do, it never stops asking and challenging. It demands proof, and when you have some - it rips that up and tries again. Because, well shit - the world might not be flat.

Which means that it's either not natural, or there are natural processes we don't know about that are causing it.
And if it's not natural, it could be us humans causing it.

Is this just pyramid inches or are multiples of 187.5 significant?

I think the emphasis is on "known". Because, what actually do we know? I guess very little. The detection of a previously unknown pattern does not suggest it's a message of some sort just because it has not been observed before and cannot be explained.
