I currently have 2 x 23" monitors. A Samsung S24E650 amd a old Dell (model unknown but around 2008 vintage).
I like the 1920x1200 size but they don't seem to be available these days. Replacing the Dell with the same Samsung model would be nice but they are no longer stocked.
I only run Linux (well sometimes Windows 8 on the laptop for CAD) and I've no plans to start gaming.
What sort of options do I have here? Only option seems to be a couple of 2K monitors.

Dell still seem to be selling the U2415, a 24in 1920x1200 IPS panel.

27in 2560x1440 is the new 24in 1920x1200, or so it seems.

Yeah that retail price is insane, if you're dead set on that exact res/size then wait for a sale or promo code

I'd dare say the Dell Utrasharp would crap all over anything else in colour calibration and viewing angles.

It has been the case for a long time now that pretty much everything has been standardised for 16:9 ratio gear regardless of the size whereas 16:10 is non-standard and hence rarer and more expensive.

Agreed, because if your after a 16:10 monitor that's going to be more expensive anyway for the reason I previously stated then you might as well just go for an Ultrasharp.

If you go an older model you can buy a brand new U2412M for around $350 but thats criminal considering I bought one for less than $300 6-7 years ago.

I think its time to let go of that res unless you buy 2nd, theirs no value.

Although on the upside, Dell's warranty service was excellent when I last needed it.

16:10 is hard to give up as is good colour.

get the Dell and move on with your life.

Can highly recommend the dells if your not gaming, worth the extra $$$, my U2711 is still going strong, got brand new not long after release.

I think the new ones are better for gaming then my old beast.
