OCAU Bake-Off Rules and Discussion Thread

Time for another Bake-off! This is a traditional annual OCAU event which tends to attract many entries. As per our tradition, the crazier the cake the better. Previous entries have clearly shown why this subforum is called "GEEK FOOD" with bits of electronics baked into cakes, homages to computers, and so on. Help celebrate our nerdiness with more sugary creations - enter this year's bake-off!!!

The prize is to be immortalized in the OCAU Bake-off wall of fame, with your creation posted every year to remind everyone of what a legend you are.

    Take note of the dates:

Open date: Sat 24th July 08:00AM
Close date: Sun 1st August 24:00 midnight

    RULES
    - To qualify: it must be a cake.
    - No entries accepted before or after opening and closing dates
    - you MUST submit photographs of you preparing the dish as proof that you cooked it. At least four pictures, one of which has your OCAU username on it.
    - make sure that your post complies with the geek food guidelines.

    JUDGING
As per the previous bake-offs and iron chefs, there will be two polls.

The entrants only poll is open only to people who have submitted entries to OCAU Bake-off 2010. At the close of the competition, PM your vote (3, 2, 1) to Ma Baker. You may not vote for yourself. The winner of the entrants poll is considered to be the winner of this year's OCAU Bake-off.

The people's choice poll is open to everyone on OCAU to vote.

Not much of a baker, but have a lot of free time on my hands these days. Perhaps I'll try my hand at something.

Azrael, you can look at previous entries to get an idea what has been submitted in the past. The links to the previous threads are all there in the first post.

Actually, I think this might have come up a few years back, I think that it was agreed that icecream cakes don't qualify - not that that's an entry, but if anyone was thinking of entering one.

    Here we are.

Dessert tarts are in. Muffins & Bikkies are in too.

Ha, I just read the title as cake, didn't realise it wasn't a cake.

I'll change my example of actual cake.

Well If I don't qualify for the main comp, I will start my own sub-comp.
I am going to call it "Well at least my cake is better than glasnt's cake" (where 'cake' == any baked good(s)).
Everyone can enter, as it works on a 1-to-1 basis. You VS. glasnt...
So far mine is much better! BLAM!
