Lots of guys from uni (and other guys who work here at Hotham) go there in summer/when there is no snow.

Like now :thumbdn: i'm so cheesed off about the lack of snow!

thredbo and perisher look pretty good this morning via the snow cams... not so good are the rest of the mountains.

unless there's a big dump this week i'm going to have to postpone my trip on the weekend after next to Buller.

45 cm in the next 7 days up here at hotham.

Big D has some coverage, enough to board on and some snow play. Bit of a small base all over the mountain but give it a week and we SHOULD have some lifts turning Big D for sure if theres even a few more CM.

Current forecast is 95cm in the next 7 days for Falls Creek and 82cm for Mt. Buller. Snow has been forecast down as low as 700m elevation tomorrow in Victoria by the Bureau of Meteorology, and with the outlook great for snowmaking on top of the natural falls this week next weekend should be the real season opener.

Which suits me perfectly, since we're going up to Buller on Friday evening :)

it was savage today. a lot of lifts at perisher closed due to wind.

there was a tonne of snow though. driving was extremely dangerous.

This Friday should be pretty sweet though. unfortunately i'm back in sydney :(

Buller's opening 5 lifts today and doing half price tickets.

If this weather keeps up half the mountain will be open by the time I get up there this weekend :)

We've got 60cm at the moment with another 30 forecast tomorrow and sunday.

I think we have heavenly valley open tomorrow with some more fun runs.

Lots of soft snow on ungroomed runs so powder boards are the go.

Should be a fun weekend. Apparently next wednesday will be a really good day out on the slopes (not as much wind, a bit more sunny etc).

180cm in 7 days is crazy, if you can blow off work you need to get down here!

Anyone have any locations & tips for cheap accommodation near the snow? I'll be driving down from Sydney and I don't mind roughing it - I'm on a student's budget. I've got a station wagon, so maybe could sleep in that?

Bahahaha, it's not worth it to sleep in a vehicle, even if you do have REALLY good cold weather sleeping gear (sub-zero rated sleeping bag, liner, sleepwear).

There's a whole heap of hostels in Jindabyne which I'd be checking out.
