I searched printables and other places for bulk storage solutions for my thousands of bits as one usually buys in a hundred plus bulk kits of each item.

A lot of items, more here, are either form and looks over function, tired stands that look like castles with wasted space, small boxes or shaft holders.

Also there is no universal bit and part holder solution.

Hence my storage solution something one can print to store their bulk parts thats kinda modula where you can take it with you with jobs and keep all your bulk bits together.

So far I am working on the storage containers, sizing them correctly etc.

Starting with the 3.2mm shaft items, test version since this I have tightened up tollerances of the holes.

Once I get these holders sorted I will need to modify 3 more to match the 3.2mm one.
I plan to make the main storage system.
Here is a start in Fusion360 of the kit.
It needs stacking ability added as well as other for transporting everything as one unit, as this is just is a initial design so far.

The first draw will hold your spare cuttoff wheel shafts, tubs of cutoff wheels, polishing compound tub etc, second loose parts eg polishing and grinding wheels, sanding drums, third for three bit trays.

For the draws no idea yet the final design so any advice apreciated.
May think about slot in vertical divider inserts you can print and add for the parts draw
I want this to be portable, stackable, able to be used on site and home.

So apart from the part trays at the end I'm not too sure the rest of the final design and can use some advice.

If your anything like me you've accumulated a full draw of parts for your kit and tubs of cutoff wheels that are just in plastic bags and stored in a drawer.

I think i got like 3 full rolls just for one stupid upload :p You get free storage and joe gives ya free shit for stuff i design for other printers :D

I love Zack's vids he has a way of telling you how stupid all this is while doing it. I remember watching this vid when deciding what i was going to go for.

These were pretty cool just for dumping ya shit into.

But in the end i went next level these are cheep as chips and i didnt have to waist time printing :)

For all my dremel bit i needed a bit more so went with this setup.

but in the end i might dedicate a whole wall to shit like that using the hexstoragewall.

    Yep have a printables page.
I'll have to look at your ideas Defyant should give be some extra ideas.

For the tubs obviously the big partitioned drawer works but loose parts should I do the pull out smaller drawers rather then the single big one?
Or just inserts into the bigger draw like Gridfinity?
What's the take on that stuff?

Then there's potentially making it all portable as one unit to consider our to separate as needed.

    Things to think about more.

The bit holders I need to change sizing again as they were just off official size numbers.
But a bit of polish is fine, even though I've printed 4 or so tests already, but skilling up here so yea will take a little to get comfortable doing things.

I've got a tool chest as a 'feature' in the lounge and slowly getting the drawers fitted with gridfinity.

(yes it does need a tidy up ...)

There's a great plugin for Fusion 360 what lets you enter the details you want in your Gridfinity drawers and it automatically creates the model, no longer restricted to set-ups others have created. It creates the necessary grid too.

I have a few ideas where I want to go with this now gridfinity seems good and will have a look at adjusting designs to that.
I think I want to get a small portable tool chest, very similar if not the same company design as the official portable dremel tool chest overseas and size the gridfinity stuff for that as well as to make a portable 3d printed tool case people can print if they don't want to get a storage case and would rather print one.

It'll take a bit to get the tool chest with finances so if people want to swing ideas around on a 3d printed storage system for those that want much aprciated.
It would need to be portable, bits won't fall out when moving it, able to be customised if you need a lot or just a few things, look good, strong etc.

Apologies for heading a bit off topic but I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested in that plugin. Do you have a name and know if it works with the personal/free version of fusion 360? I've toyed with the idea of looking at gridfinity but the time investment of finding/designing what I need then printing it all has put me off. Now with a faster printer and possibly this plugin it might be worth taking a look.

Revenger, just off the top of my head, have a look at some larger tackle boxes. Might find something suitable for your needs and cheaper.

You can find it on the Autodesk app page as a free app or you can get it from Github [https://github.com/Le0Michine/FusionGridfinityGenerator]
Works fine on the free version of Fusion 360

    Done,

I'm torn between a couple of diffrent aproches to this project so until I can work those out and possibly get that toolbox this is a urgh.

For portability a custom made tackbox aproch will work I had a look at some online most semi decent ones are $100+ about the same as that portable toolbox I shoed earlier.
These seem to be the best one can get thats semi the look and style.

    Screenshot_2023-12-07-08-20-50-484_com.amazon.mShop.android.shopping.jpg Screenshot_2023-12-07-08-21-49-259_com.amazon.mShop.android.shopping.jpg Screenshot_2023-12-07-08-22-23-340_com.amazon.mShop.android.shopping.jpg

For storage in a tool chest which I have one for my general toos and as mentioned looking at a portable one, or general home storage obviously the Gridfinity aproch will work.
Only concern will be a way to stop bits falling out when your moving, carting around your dremel to various jobs as Gridfinity is meant to be a system without lids and I'm not versed on lid making and diffrent catches, latches yet for each storage bin.

So theres a couple different aproches for this.
I think I'me one of those people that one simple solution isn't enough for me.
