    Hey all.

I'm wanting to save some space in my room by putting my 3D printer in my server rack.
It fits in, heightwise, however the drawer that I ordered doesn't actually slide out very far, and came on here hoping people might have a couple of options.
I thought of getting some rails and fixing a solid tray between them?

    Any thoughts?

I can't tell from the pics but I assume the sliders are close to the generic filing drawer size. I think a possibility is looking at the drawer sliders from bunnings or anywhere else and seeing if you can transplant the bracketry to a longer (e.g 600mm) slider kit.

That's of course if the cost of new sliders is actually less than a complete drawer kit.

I think the issue with one of those is that the slides are only 350mm long so you will not get more than that without replacing the slides as mentioned by mtma

No I have 4 of them in my 600mm rack which is 400mm wide between uprights, I also have 450mm slides in a StarTech open rack set to 650mm, they adjust up to 550mm on the 350mm draw to 750mm on the 450mm + draws.

The issue is the stopper on the rail slides, these have latches on the side so you can slide them out of the rails.

Can't tell if the proliant has a rail kit. If it does, nice solid shelf :)

does it actually need to slide out very far? is there anything on the back of the bambu you need to get to regularly, or almost never?

I've got a Qidi XMax 3, the spool holder is on the back (worst UX ever), so I'd need it to slide out all the way and rotate around 180. only saving grace is I don't change spools unless it's empty. all black, all PA-CF all the time.

That's a fair point. The only thing on the back is the ejection port. I could even print a chute that brings the waste around to the front!

Could try mine, sort of does what you want if you have enough width.

Not sure if you could make one that reach all the way to the front unless it goes below the printer as you need a fair slope to get the poop to roll.

Is the sliding draw gonna lock in firmly enough to not cause wobbles in your prints?

So... 4 Cabling sent me a replacement drawer when I whined about the issues I was having with this one.

The new drawer slides out almost far enough for me to open the AMS unit.
It doesn't look overly strong and I might be at the weight limit of the drawer, so I may look at putting a panel between rail slides or something.

The rack appears to shake very slightly when it's printing, however I printed a couple of Penrose triangles for a trial run and it seemed to not have any issues.

Thanks all for your help/advice :)

Those cage nuts on the printer drawer are definitely not happy.
