    Name of recipe
    4am French Toast and Bacon.

    Notes/description
    It's french toast and bacon.

    Ingredients Required
    6-8 Rashers of bacon.
    4-5 eggs.
Bread, preferably white/italian white. Whole grain is okay. Wholemeal sucks for french toast.
Maple syrup. Camp or Steve's brands. Nothing else. Accept no substitutes.
    Butter.
    Milk.
    Water.
    Salt/Pepper.

    Equipment Required
    Frying pan.
    Spatula.
    Mixing bowl.
    Plate with paper towel.
    Fork.

    Instructions
Heat up the frying pan, when water spits off the pan, grease up the pan with a dab of butter, then add the bacon. While the bacon is frying crack the eggs into the bowl. Mix them with the fork, whisking them well. Add a big dash of milk, then a smaller dash of water. Add salt and pepper to taste. Whisk for a bit more, then check on the bacon. When the pig meat is fried to taste, move it to the paper toweled plate and let the fat drain/soak off, and then start dipping pieces of bread in the egg mixture/batter. This is important: dip the slices fully in the mix, but don't soak them completely, the egg that soaks through to the middle won't cook and it'll taste like shit. Think of a cattle tick dip: coat them, but don't drown them. Give them a quick five second dip in the batter, making sure they're covered completely in the mix, then place on the frying pan. If you don't get the dipping amount right, you'll screw them up.
Cook them like piklet/pancakes, then move to serving plates.

Cover the toast and bacon in maple syrup and serve. Should do 2-3 people. If you've got mix left over, make Scrambled Agg's for breakfast.

    Options
Icing sugar and some sliced strawberries wouldn't kill anybody.

... except diabetics. Just a quick note: like most other products, french toast tastes best (subjectively) when done as the last item in a BBQ.

I'm all for the soaked up juices/fatty goodness from a BBQ, but serving with Maple Syryp?!?!? Are you crazy?!?!

Personally I would add a few drops of Tabasco to the mixture to pep it up a little :)

I do french toast without bacon, but during the cooking phase I sprinkle either black pepper or cinnamon on the toast and cook it into it. Cinnamon french toast is awesome!

Sciby, you're clearly in need of help - get it with all speed. And by help, I don't mean more bacon.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'd shrivel up and die if I left the house to go and scrounge around someone else's backyard for some eggs, I'd make your recipe. Also, whenever I'm close to pigs or pig meat, the penguins come back, and we all know what fun that would mean for my proctologist.

    in case you hadn't noticed....

Hmmm, this was sounding good... up until the cattle dip comment... that's just put me right off!!!

I've never had sweet things (maple syrup/sugar etc.) with french toast, I like mine savoury. I went out with someone for a while who had a penchant for coating french toast with strawberry jam... I might try the maple syrup thing one day.

3 eggs, bout 1/4 the volume of eggs of milk and a heaped teaspoon of cinnamon sugar. dip 3-4 slices of bread and soak well (20 odd seconds) then fry on medium heat. serve onto plate then sprinkle a little more cinnamon sugar.

The middle should be slightly gooey, tastes soo nice yet VERY easy to make =).

i like to soak my bread int the egg mixture for a little longer so the eggs soak all the way through. then when it is cooking (slowly on a low heat so it cooks all the way through) air expands in the bread and gets trapped by the egg mixture, so i end up with nice big fluffy french toast!
i have never tried french toast with maple syrup though, i have always thought of it as a savory dish. i will have to give a go though

An alternative I tried the other day was french toast made with raisin bread. Was great, already cinnamony with bits of sultana and whatnot, very nice.

    Damn. I want some now.
