    Hi Guys,

Well on Monday I was at tafe and this guy there bought a Sim Card from a local shop for $50.00. He showed me a msg he received back from a balance checker (like "Bal" to 9999 for Optus) thingy.

Anyways it said "You have used $17X.XX of your $1000.00 credit."

The $1000.00 credit lasts for 1 month only, then you have to buy a new sim card, hence different number each time. Anyways i was keen to get one, but when we went to where he got his she didnt have any left. Though mentioned Woolies or Coles might have them. They are apparently new and quite popular.

I was quite interested to get one, as it works just like a normal sim, you can ring overseas/sms/ring here/recieve calls/sms etc. Just like a normal phone but yer its disposable.

Has anyone heard of these at all? Or seen them?

    Cheers,
    Chris

Sounds pretty doggy to me if you have to throw away the sim card at the end of the month and then get a new sim with a new number.

    What company was it with?

Not sure what company. Its like a disposable type thing.

Once you activate it, it just cancels somehow after a month.
    His phone number was 0449064XXX?

So yer not too sure the brand. But how can it be dodgy? Its just a dispoable sim... just save your contatcs to the phone ;)

0449 is a new Telstra prefix, and I can guarantee Telstra wouldn't give anyone $1000 credit for $50 :)

sounds like it was accidentally credited, or there was a error with the message, or you were high at the time... sounds like number 3, theres no such thing as a simcard that expires in 30 days, what would the point of that be???

Didnt get a chance to go to the shop on the way home (rego transfer needed to be done lol) I will try monday though if everything goes alright and i remember.
