Canon USA calls it the 5D mk II, article about its new battery system is available. It mentions a HD movie mode, no other details other than a quoted 2 hours worth of movie shooting :o.

Oh well, there goes my BP-511A collection :p. More power is always good though, especially when travelling with IS lenses.

EDIT: auto vignetting correction like the D3 generation, and it says the 5D mk II will shoot at 3.9FPS with it on.

So, no vignetting (which I love), more battery power for IS & autofocus lenses (which I dont use).

    What else? :)

    Edit: Whoa, it looks awesome!

    From dpreview..

Pre-Photokina 2008: After a week or so of teaser ads Canon has finally unveiled the successor to the venerable EOS 5D, the world's first 'compact' full frame digital SLR. The EOS 5D Mark II boasts a new 21MP CMOS sensor, an expanded ISO range of 50-25,600 and a wealth of improvements and new features including full 1080p HD movie recording, live view, 3.0" 920k dot LCD, DIGIC IV processor, increased battery capacity and sensor dust reduction.

Stop dissing it dude. You shot together with Canon users for two weeks and we all know you were jealous of us pressing our direct print buttons all the time.

yes i was, i wish i had one too oli ;)

i'd like to see if the sensor delivers the goods. This is definitely not just an incremental upgrade like the 30d -> 40d -> 50d, this is one HUGE jump.

what ace does nikon have up its sleeve? :D

No mention of micro AF adjustment or pricing? (unless I missed it somewhere).

Now to wait for the MkI to drop in price :)

Looking at the back of the camera, the layout looks almost identical to the 30D with the addition of the AF-ON button and a microphone grill. Still only 9 AF points so it looks like it'll be a seamless transition for me

Canon has also announced a new 24mm, so I suppose the ZE Distagon might have more competition when it eventually comes out.

    BAM

    Ball to your court nikon!

Assuming it keeps in line with the old 5D's strengths (stunning low noise) then this one stunning camera.
