Picked up my 5D MK II today from JB Hifi! :) Preordered though as I paid in full early December last year.

I called them up today to check as the previous ETA given was early Feb. After waiting several mins on the phone he got back to me and said it's already here! They never called to let me know but I'm not bothered anymore. The camera is sitting beside me now :D

All I can say is DAMNNN, what a fine camera!

It sure is. IQ wise, I think this thing really does shine over my 1D III and 1Ds II. Still doesn't feel as responsive, though.

Protip: just don't let it get exposed to liquid!

IQ of the 5D II is really quite amazing, especially when paired with some L lenses - especially the 16-35 II :)

I'll certainly keep that tip in mind!

LOL yeap! I didn't quite plan to purchase the 5D II so soon - although I wanted one but as I was walking around Macq Cen I thought I'd just try ask what was JB's price. Price was too good to pass :)

    *yawn* ;)

I guess the 16-35 is OK, shame about the corners though.

Well f@rmboy has had his for a couple weeks now and he is really impressed with the high ISO performance. AF leaves a little to be desired compared to the 1DMkII-N as is the weather sealing but then again, Canon aren't marketing it as a 1 series camera.

One thing he will say is that anything smaller than an 8GB CF card is a waste of time. Lightroom suffers a little performance hit as well but not near the hit f@rmboy was expecting.

Overall f@rmboy feels it was money well spent.

I think there's a slight difference, between rain and splash resistance, and drowning in caffeinated acidic pool of hell.

I think you have a spelling mistake there. Heaven is not spelled H-E-L-L. :p

Anyone with a 5DII, does the new mirror arrangement clear the Pentax Aperture lever? or have all of you SMC-A users removed/modified the Aperture lever?

Good price. I just ordered this week at Myer Brisbane. Asked them to price match $3700 and they did. If you sign up to MyerOne rewards, you will also get $60 back (voucher) which isn't too bad.

Tried it and removed aperture lever and no luck at infinity focus the shutter mech hits the rear lens element.

nakey you can put pk on 5dII, it works a treat at anything other than infinity. Its not a pleasant surprise when the shutter mech hits the lens.. ouch!!!

Works fine with the fin and aperture lever cut down to the level of the rest of the lens mechanics. I tested this with my Pentax-A 50/1.2 and it's a dream from up close to infinity.
