Use 7zip's benchmark test and you will see a dfference between the two settings, Of course I did say that unganged is fastest in Multi-threaded applications; which most games are either not multi-threaded or aren't very efficient at multithreading. So if you play games use ganged should be faster.

With 6970, If you look at the benchs done by SemiAccurate, TechPoweUp, FUDZILLA and HardOCP, it is a significant upgrade to the 5870; but manly at high resolutions.

    well

i went into CCC, and catalyst A.I was on fucking high quality, the AA was stuck on 8.

do i reset them, rebooted, and it is stuck on them settings again

it keeps going back to them settings everytime i close it

BUT, i changed them, left them open, done just cause 2, fps was around 45fps, compared to 25-30 of my 5870 ( excactly the same spot to, where i loaded my save game )

CCC keeps setting shit back everytime i close the damn thing, so i gotta leave it open

Did you click on defaults or set them back manually? I had the same thing happen with 5770 xfire setup, turned out the install of Windows 7 was stuffed and reinstall fixed everything.

default is crazy catalyst set on high and AA is on.

when i apply my settings ( turning them off ), if i apply, ok, then close CCC, when i open it there back to default again lol.

no biggie, im not re-installing windows cause of it.

this card loves the AA, only about 5fps diffrence between no AA and 8AA

I just haven't seen significant increases with one over the other with recently released games, but I'm happy to partially agree with your statement

Strange indeed, might be time for a uninstall and a driver clean. But at least you've narrowed down something.

do i download drive cleaner, boot into safe mode.

delete them, and then reboot normally and re-install

should i stick with 10.12a or 10.12, people are reporting that CCC dont work in 10.12

Stick with 10.12a, while 10.12 has 6900-series details in the inf files, some people seem to be having issues.

Any who, run the ATI catalyst uninstaller, reboot into safe-mode, run the driver clean, and then reboot and install the 10.12a driver pack.

EDIT: before you reinstall the 10.12a make sure there aren't any ATI installer folders left over. See here on what to look for: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showpost.php?p=12564028&postcount=18

If that doesn't solve the issue, and you get bored one day, you can do a format/clean install like PANZERAMD suggested...or just hope the 11.1 release will solve the issue :)

Oh DM you are very spoiled! I would consider 12-20% significant. I was expecting less.

Anyway AussieSausage the reviewers pointed to poor drivers in there 6970 reviews, Although it doesn't help, you will see improved performance in drivers to come.

To add to what DM said... Might be worth running a registry cleaner also after the uninstall just to make sure nothings hanging around!

    I hope the same :)

Moar power captain :) hehee I didn't expect much of a boost this series anyway in terms of raw performance. A 20% increase would have been at least something to look at (TPU show 11% at 1920 and 14% at 2560).

Oh well, time to get ready for NYE celebs..

how do i clean the registry?

its not that i didn't get a huge boost, cause i knew that was not the case, i plan on getting a 2nd that is why i purchased one.

it was the decreases that had me worried, i was expecting 5+ fps gain, not 20fps decreases lol

ah well, not to worry now

    :D

This could very well be the prob.

Especially if when CCC starts up and the powerdrive is set permanently on (despite being unchecked).

If ya using 3rd party tools ie Afterburner etc they have no effect as settings will be stuck at what powerdrive is stuck on at.

The drivercleaner should take care of that as well (the majority of it).

Was the 5870 not maxxed out? If so its actually performing alot better than that...

With black ops i was able to go from eyefinity, no AA/AF (with a 5850) @ 40fps to 4xAA EQ and 16x AF and im getting 60fps...
