I like #1 - shows how much they love their bikes! I took the same shot as #10 when I was there earlier this year, but the colours in yours are nice and crisp in comparison. Gotta love the buildings in that city!

    Thank you . Very kind.

Yeah. So many bikes everywhere. I wish I had spent a bit more time getting a few more dedicated photos of the bikes. There is huge storage of bikes just near the Central station but I forgot to go back there.
Beautiful place. Would be amazing to photograph in Spring/Summer when the lighting is better and there are more leaves in the trees. Winter is a bit dreary when it comes to colours.

    Fake but anatomically correct :)
Lens is a lowly 17-85mm IS - saving up for a 24-105mm :upset:
Got a bit to learn about night photography. I think I should use manual focus rather then auto next time...

are some of these HDR ?

9 is a average shot. overexposed, blown highlights, too much saturation (noticable on the blues), and too much contrast

whereas 10 (along with alot of your other shots) are simply stunning !

id love to know what pp (if any), and shot config, you did to get these.

Yeah 9 wasn't the best. I am just not good enough to be able to get balanced shots in areas with significant exposure changes. I find in Europe with narrow streets/lanes with tallish buildings that the lower 1/3 - 1/2 is very dark if I expose the sky properly. I need to get a graduated filter ND I think but just can't find one in Belgium (not much in terms of photographic shop in Leuven).
Numbers 1,3,4,5,6,10 are varying levels of HDR. The HDRs have very little PP on them. Just a bit of sharpening as they are created from RAWs and I don't use in camera sharpening at all. The others (especially 11) have very little in terms of PP either . A bit of contrast and sharpening and a small bump in saturation.
I find the dark skys (overcast) with the winter colours tend to suit HDR a bit as the lighting is a bit more even. But I am still learning that also. Sometimes in HDR less is more (I started off with all controls maxed out).

Here is the same photo with a pseudo HDR (1 pic) and another 1 photo gentle HDR

Yeah. That was one lucky shot. My favourite too along with 6.

I have to say i think your are right about the HDR, the photos have taken on an almost Pastel coloring to them, 1,3,4 and 10 are simply fantastic.

    Well Done !

Very nice photos! I think that #1 would look good with a heavily processed HDR though. Could you possibly give that a go?

Nice photos, I like Amsterdam. Although you are missing one photo that is normally in every Amsterdam set out there, a row of Heinekens at the brewery:lol:

The Stella Artois (which also makes a few other beers) is about 400 meters down the road from our appartment in Leuven :)
