When playing games on android some are LADEN with ads.

I also get pop up ads on my phone now and then (outside of games) with no apparent reason.

In any event can people please recommend what the best adblocker is for android (mines a samsung in case that matters) I'm looking for one which blocks in-app ads. not a browser that blocks ads - that's different.

    Thanks

One, the other, or both Walter ? waltermitty

The first obviously, as well as blockada says 'get in on f-droid". Is that a website, a company, an app, a google play store alternative..?

F-droid is an alternative app store. blokada is an app that you download from F-droid.

Both things I worked out within 15 seconds of clicking on both links...

That's usually result of a discretely malicious or negligent app. If you remember when it started happening, you can correlate which app it was based on what you installed around that time.

I didn't want to confuse the thread at that time, so that particular comment was actually my wifes (identical) phone.
Mine actually isn't doing it, and wasn't before. The only things she'd have installed, that I do not, are a few games. She has no idea of when they started, she just complained about it to me one day saying its been happening 'for ages'. Super helpful eh :D

"Free" Games are usually a likely culprit for this kind of activity.
Even with some improvements the Play Store is still rife with apps that abuse the user.
Best course of action is a factory reset.
Otherwise remove apps until it stops happening.
Would be great if Android had a ready way of calling up what app throws an ad on your screen at random times (a la Process Explorer in Windows?).

Android still has a long way to go to respect the users rights and privacy.
They make a show of doing a few nice things but under the hood it's still stuffed.
Much as i hate to admit it Apple has the edge here.

Come to think of it, I recall having to do this for my mum on her tablet, as she had the same issue. We found the culprit, but I don't remember which app we used to find it.
