in the addon section of firefox it mentions shockwave flash and not adobe flash ???

Go to c:/windows/syswow64/macromed (or 32 for 32 bit) - open mms.cfg and add "ProtectedMode=0" - save and exit. Reboot any browsers.

ok i have done that, will see how it goes, but i still get some videos in youtube playing in fast motion with no audio, and some videos play ok without sound, other videos i click on says it is not available.

if it is adobe flash that i install, why does it show up as shockwave in the firefox addons ???

Fairly certain FF 13.0.1 was pushed out to fix this.

i already had 13.0.1 installed, so far the above fix worked as far as no flash crashes, but some youtube vids are being gay.

Ok m8, yeah i dont know what bought it on, it just started crashing on me about 4 days ago with that crash error box appearing on the screen when i opened a web page, then the web page i was on would just close on me.

if i disable that shockwave flash addon in firefox, i lose the ability to watch videos on web pages.

I've noticed from FF 10+ that I have been having similar issues with FF browser & Flash Player altogether.

Even after a fresh reformat I still get the same issues, etc. If you load enough video's the flash player plugin will crash.. locking up FF for a minute than refreshing all the videos I was pre-streaming.

Going to try that out Linkin:thumbup::thumbup:

i have not had another crash error since applying that fix that Lincin posted, but some youtube vids either wont play, play fast with no audio, or says the video not available.

seems like a combination of latest flash and firefox versions to me ???

I remember checking the 'about flash' page a while back to see what the current versions were. I noticed 11.3 appeared there, yet the website installer was still 11.2 - after a day or so, the version page reverted back to the 11.2 branch as the current version.

Perhaps 11.3 wasn't and still remains, not quite cooked :s

11.3 is a bit broken atm.

They made a new protected mode & made a change to the sound engine.. Google Flash 11.3 no sound and you see what I mean.

whats the difference between adobe flash player and adobe shockwave player, as i see both in the adobe website and my addon in FF only has reference to shockwave, not flash ???

also, they seem to only have flash 11.3 in their download page, can we still get 11.2 to avoid this sound problem.

    Let's see what Google says.

    Archived players
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

    and

The difference between the Macromedia Flash and Shockwave Players
Flash and Shockwave Players are both free web Players from Macromedia. Together, they bring you the best rich media content on the Internet. Each has a distinct purpose. Flash Player delivers fast loading front-end web applications, high-impact web site user interaction, interactive online advertising, and short to medium form animation.

Shockwave Player displays destination web content such as interactive multimedia product demos and training, e-merchandising applications, and rich-media multi-user games. Through Xtras, Shockwave Player is also extendable to playback custom-built applications.

    THE FIX

Still running the older 3.6 but I've had this problem over the last week.

I tried heaps of things including the protected mode thing, didn't work.

I've fixed it now by going back to the last version of flash before 11.3 r300 which is the problem one.

I used the adobe flash uninstaller and then installed Flash 11.2 r202. Everything is now back to normal, no crashes.
