Well I have to say I'm looking forward to trying these stores to see what they have to offer. If the prices are comparable (or better) then the large fuel discounting vouchers look attractive.

    Aldi is awesome!

Have great items from around the world and Au.

Their baby wipes are as good as huggies, they get some great deals on electronic oddments at incredible prices, you have to pack your own bags and they dont have very bright staff in the local one but that is no different to Coles or Woolies.

Timing sounds suspect and i'd wager they wont setup anywhere near where i live, even coles and woolies dont chase each other too hard in the eastern burbs.

Heh. I didn't know this the first (and only) time I went there. Fuck I looked and felt like a tool when I had to be told to pack my own stuff :D

The only thing i don't like about Costco is that its a subscription based warehouse.... Its $60/year to be a member.. guess you'd really have to make it worthwhile..

In my opinion, Aldi are are significantly cheaper than the two major supermarkets. In the early days before they came to the Central Coast it was cheaper for us to drive up the F3 to Wallsend (42km's away) than to travel the 500 metres to our local Coles store to do our fortnightly shop. Since they have arrived in NSW, they have really caused Coles and Woolworths to change their marketing strategies.
The products they sell are generally as good or better than national brands and mostly Australian too.

    That's my 2 cents worth.

The only thing Aldi doesn't have are specials on products that arn't fruit or vegetables.

The thing that amazes me is every time I go into Aldi their fruit and vegetables are nearly half the price compared to Woolworths or Coles, and often better quality too.

I shop at Aldi for nearly everything, I drive to Woolworths/Coles some weeks if they have a good special, but besides that its so nice to buy whatever I want at Aldi and not have to worry that I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Coles and Woolworths rip you off, they also ripped you off even more before Aldi came.

Does anyone know when Costco is opening?

I've been interested in some of their electrical gear, but just not had a store to nab it from, to date that is.

Aldi are great, I resent Coles/Woolies domination and avoid them both like the plague. Only prob with Aldi is everything is imported (I think).
