~5 year plan apparently, they need to build a distribution network and everything else to go along with it.

I'm surprised it's been so slow to get to SA. You're really missing out. Their higher end cheese is fantastic.

Gotta build a distribution network, organise sellers etc, tbh it is a pretty good time frame.

Surely an east-coast store would be closer to Canada? :p

so i went to costco today and signed up, had a look around bought a few things, but im wondering what all the hype is?

there arent any good discounts on tech, and all the food is in jumbo sized packs that i as a single householder would never ever get through before they expired. :(

even then im not sure if the stuff is *that* much cheaper than buying in normal quantities from a normal supermarket.

i dont even live that close to the costco so im not sure how often i'll use the petrol discount (when its 8 cents more per litre across the road, i'll just go there instead of trek cross-city). however, when the shahin-cartel pumps the price up to $1.50 every couple of weeks, i can see how the discount would come in handy. :)

what are the good buys at costco that i should look out for????

I thought the meat section had good pricing. But am yet to actually buy and try any of it. Roast chooks for $7 is a winner in my books

I noticed that for the stuff im interested in getting, most of the prices there are about what you get at the supermarkets when they are on sale.

Yes & no - some stuff at Costco is still a long way ahead of brand-name stuff in the supermarket while on sale, like olive oil, frozen fruits, biscuits, sauces etc etc. There's also a fair bit of stuff that's hard to find anywhere else. I'm happy with the pricing on the stuff I actually want from there.

Also sanjay yeah it's not a "shopping for 1" place at all.
