SO! Who's getting one on launch day?! Aldi I love you!!!! :D

And it's a permanently stocked item, too; not just a sale item. So you will always be able to get pods!

I've just read every word on the website, and for the price, I'll be lining up on opening day :weirdo:

I won't grab one because I already have a cheap shit Aldi automatic espresso machine (that rocks), but my milk frother is getting pretty mangy (I'm lazy and cbf using the wand), so I'm going to grab a couple of those :)

reckon i might have to give this a go,

might wait till someone buys it and reviews it first if its an everyday stocked item

have been contemplating one of the nespresso machines on the only pay for the coffee deal but i already drink enough and at 60 per month im only going to get worse :o

Aldi's great with returns. Buy it, try it, if you don't like it, just take it back within 60 days and say 'I'd like a refund.'

And $79? Just...wow. It doesn't even need to be great for that price, just decent, especially if its competition is something like a $369 Nespresso Pixie.

the only challenge is figuring out which coffee type you like i guess..... but, at $6 for 16 pods, that's like 38 cents each.... add the cost of milk water and electricity, and you're getting coffee for about 60 cents a go :) can't be unhappy about that!

definitely doing a review when i get mine.

doubtful. i believe the company that makes the machine made it to compete with/undercut the nespresso brand....

Given the price of the machines, I bet they're not making much on them. The profit is in the consumables - at which stage it would make sense to make them compatible with Nespresso machines - a huge existing userbase you can tap into to flog consumables to.

+1 want to know this too

Judging by the picture, I reckon it will.

Might just go and buy some to try, worse case is I split the pods open and use the coffee in a percolator..

Also keen to see if the pods will fit my Citiz. :) Not that I really have an issue with the Nespresso pods, but more options is always good.

    I thought the same thing.

I have an entry level Nespresso machine, so I'll really welcome the cheaper pods! :)

And yeah, definitely be buying a couple of these as chrissy presents!

it's almost a given that they'll be selling the machines as a lost leader. gotta hand it to them, they're gonna give it a red hot crack, and try and steal some of nespresso's user base :)

going to go against the flow and say nope. my Breville espresso machine does me fine, and I can purchase decent Colombian beans for must < pod prices.

I think the "pod machines vs 'real' coffee machines" debate belongs in another thread. :) Personally being able to hit one button and have decent coffee magically appear first thing in the morning is awesome. I've no time for the grinding (or buying pre-ground) and filling and tapping and all that. But yeah, can we leave this thread for discussing this new Aldi system specifically.. ta.
