Game unlocks in about 18 hours.

Nice free co-op dungeon crawler to play with your mates, and shows off the new engine.

looks awesome. Will have to see what kind of mods can be done with the code/sdk.
Isn't this a rehash of Alien Breed ? http://store.steampowered.com/app/22610/ I hope the controls are better in Alien Swarm

I wish we could preload it. My net is not known for its cracking speeds. Its going to take me a day or two to get. :(

I'm surprised they didn't allow it :D But i doubt its a large download.

Edit: Under the requirements they state: Hard Drive: At least 2.5 GB of free space

Yes and this is a revamp of that version using the source engine.

The team behind the original Alien Swarm were hired by Valve a few years back to work on L4D2 and Portal (or Portal 2, can't remember) - anyway, Valve agreed to let them spend some of their time in the office working on a Source engine version, and, well, this is the result.

If it uses the steam engine does that mean the majority of the files are already on my pc? and it just has to get the files unique to the game?

When I first heard about it, I wasn't so excited- but after watching a gameplay trailer I'm pretty hyped for it's release. 10 hours to go!

I spent 15 minutes looking for a pre-load option, but there wasn't one :thumbdn:

Uses the source engine, might need some updates for the engine but yes that should essentially be the case.
