    Easy CPU pickings...

I think this: http://mp3.zonebg.com/cpu/cpu.php should be added.

The last results box is really good, it tells you what the chip has been downgraded from i.e. an XP2600+ locked by AMD at XP1800+

It should give you an early idea of what to expect from your chip :D

i wonder if unlocking barton would be simply as unlocking t-bred?
    *considering tommorow get 2500+*

is it the same or what?

No luck at all with conductive paint?

I have found the best way to short the links on my Athlon XP Palomino is to solder them. I use a Metcal surface mount soldering iron, flux and single strands of wire from a ribbon cable. Takes about 1/2 hour and it lasts forever.

I have seen t-bred unlocking guides ( soldering/cutting bridges) but i dont understand why. I know with my 2000xp on a soltek motherboard i can change the multiplyers to whatever i like. If this is a dumb question forgive my ignorance.

im not sure exactly.. so ill prob get shot down.. but i think if its an nForce board (like mine), the nForce unlocks the chip for you.

Seems like the "wire jumper" method would be easier to do. I'll have to try that with barton "superlocked" 2800. Will post results in AMD Forum .

I could not get the "wire jumper" on the cpu socket to work. :(

    suggestions for sticky's

confirmation on barton unlocking / same method as thoroughbred cpus?

    and perhaps more important,

a facts article detailing socket 462's most sought after cpu's (o)r the best cpus for socket 462 (now that production is comming to a end)

eg. mobile bartons (i know this has been done - just relavant to this topic)

eg. let people know about semprons, just a renamed tb b core cpu which is locked.

eg. bartons even tho not in production being a better cpu than the new semprons (having more cache)

eg. an old tb/b core 2100 being a better cpu to own than a sempron 2400 because the 2100 is factory unlocked and cheaper to be had.

i hope this is accurate, i have only learnt this recently in my quest for answers since the sempron was released. im sure there are alot of other that would like to know.

Click here and in * 64-bit section you can find two useful guides.
    Look other sections too...
But things change rapidly so much of the stuff there is out of date now.
Anyway you will find something interesting.

Just for general info, a few people seem to have asked about the LanParty board differences:
