Yeah and the FE was basically vapourware in Australia, at least the AMD reference models exist here.
Whats the bet its aud 1000.
How can they call a 3060 a "budget gpu" when usd329 translates to aud800-900 ....
Yes I saw some were mid $700's but will they ever come back at that price?
Sorry back to red team talk.
Has AMD even made more reference 6800 and 6800XT? I thought they said they would? They're awfully quiet.
I don't know why AMD and Nvidia are bothering to announce new releases, I guess these models are the chips with defects that are cut down, so I guess its better to try sell them?
What's with both brands releasing tiny quantities so people miss out and prices go through the roof? I sold my 2080Ti ages ago in preparation for a monster new gen GPU and I'm still waiting.... (Yes I had a 6900xt for a little while but I was never keeping it at that price, just to bench for a while).
Until then I guess the gtx970 spare will have to do ....
You bit out of the loop there bud?
Demand for gaming products is through the ceiling at the same time new consoles have come out that use the same silicon.
If they could release more graphics cards they would.
Plenty of people were advising not to panic sell 2080tis
Covid hasn't helped either, more people at home doing fuck all, heaps more starting to stream, game etc. And other components for boards, caps, resistors, voltage regs etc. Are getting harder to get because the supply has dropped.... Apparently.
AMD also has a shit load of stuff on 7nm and the consoles took priority because they got big bonuses from M$ & Sony.
Just cruising along on a 1070 for the time being and playing at 1080p instead of 4k
And there are sweet f all supply of consoles too so supply is constrained on all fronts and no msrp priced fun is allowed in 2021.
and the wafers...
apparently auto makers are hoovering up as much raw material as they can so they can have chips made and finish cars stuck on production lines.... its not jsut the pc market thats strapped for bits and chasing whatever they can get... its a perfect storm of everyone wanting the bits at once.
got my 5700xt, im waiting it out for now... hell im looking into fixing my broken 480 as the prices they command now is getting ridiculous....
I sold before all that, prices were up before the panic sell.
Prices are beyond stupid now, I know its the AMD thread but check out this bargain:
Arhh I see the 6700xt has smaller memory bus 384 vs 512Gb/s - So perhaps bit more of a gap at 1440p and 4k.
96 vs 128 mb cache
But processing performance is very similar. ~ 5%.
~20w of power usage of each other.
that won't sell at that price
I've seen dribs and drabs of the reference models, way more than the one and done nVidia FE. They just get snatched up quick because demand is bonkers.
They're not cut down, Navi 22 is a completely new die with half the CUs.
Navi 21 vs Navi 22
Interesting theory - not sure where to put it
Not sure why it would have freed up N5 capacity...
CPU limited only games..
HWU 6700XT review
Gamers Nexus Review
I find it funny that people lump NVIDIA into this excuse. When NVIDIA only have one main consumer product, the GPU, that they're not producing. AMD on the other hand is trying to juggle four product segments off fo one die haha
yep 6700xt is a bit of a yawn as expected, overpriced.
Nerdtech covered this years ago as linked in first comment of that video. Nvidia has higher driver overhead both because it has both a software scheduler and the multi core software engineering marvel that can take a single core draw call thread from a game and split it across multiple cores on the fly to give work to the GPU. AMD has a hardware schedular and no multi core marvel. So for a typical DX11 game that uses one core heavily (eg pubg) and can't effectively use multiple cores, the nvidia cards actually run faster in CPU limited gaming because despite higher overall CPU usage the nvidia drivers can use the extra cores. But now as more DX12/vulkan games especially actually use multiple cores effectively on their own this extra driver overhead matters, the tables are turned, and AMD runs better in CPU limited gaming.
Surprised me how much faster a 6800 is than the 6700xt. I feel happier now. Processing wise they should be similar, but in benchmarks the 6800 is way, way out in front. 20-30%. In ray tracing its even more.. Ray tracing needs more memory bandwith?
