Needs CU's... the 6800 has 50% more CU's so theoretically it should be 50% faster in RT.
50% less cores. Yes, 50% less RT, 33% less TMUs.
But its clocks are 23+% faster.
Its an interesting card to compare between the 6800. ~16% less performance for about 16% less RRP. But yeh, in some cares its performance is significantly lower than the 6800, and in one game, it can match it.
The 6800 is almost always faster than the 3070 (in not RT situations), and in a few games tops 3080 and even 3090's. It has enough RT that it generally sits around 3060-3070 level RT performance.
The 6700xt is wedged in between 3060 and 3070 performance. In RT is significantly slower.
The 6800 is only ~10% slower in Ray tracing than a 3070. It is only really missing DLSS. 10% RT performance difference isn't IMO huge. Happy to have twice the VRAM for a 10% RT performance hit. plus the 6800 tends to toast the 3070 in games, as it has the same memory speed, and the 128Mb cache as the 3070. Its generally 10% faster than 3070.
The 6800 on occasions matches the performance of the 6800XT (assassins creed 4k), World War Z 4k, the 6800 is 45% faster than the 3070.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 6700xt and the 6800 end up retailing for similar prices.
Soon(tm)... hopefully this year...
Much more at link.
Hopefully not launching in time to go to head to head against the next DLSS revision.
If it's good enough it will be a gamechanger more so for the PS5/XBSX over the life of those platforms.
Interesting that they're specifically ruling out machine learning-based methods but not giving any hints at the method/methods they will be using.
machine learning and AI are great hit points for your investors. Nvidia don't use their super computers to do the "what does this look like at much higher resolution" anymore either. It might have helped them get it to market sooner, but they don't run each and every game through it like the first iteration
If they could get DLSS/FSR working then that would even the tech gap. As much as reviewers go on about the Ray tracing advantage on Nvidia, 10% performance advantage over a 6800 isn't a lot, particularly when the 6800 is generally 10% faster than a 3070 in every normal game.
I assume the 6700xt would be super profitable for AMD. Its has a smaller memory bus than the 5700xt. It has a small die. It sells for a high price. While it doesn't really do much for consumers, it does probably do a great deal for AMD bottom line. And if the price wars ever do start, AMD will be in a good position.
And the war is against US!
$709 for XFX Refence 6700XT
Still has an $899 Powercolor Hellhound model available still, might be gone fast.

Grabbed the XFX 6700XT reference (assuming my order doesn't get cancelled by the card being oversold). I'm still preordered for a $1069 6800xt from HN, but I really don't see them following through.
Very pleasant experience getting my reference 6700XT off PCCG at 12:02am. Reading the horror stories of people overseas dealing with underprepared retailers websites crashing mid checkout and then missing out makes me grateful for our own prepared ones.
LOL, quite a price range. Just on PCCG, they're from $709 to $1,399.
$1,399 for a 6700XT
Can I just say... and excuse my language... but that is an absolutely fucking ridiculous price. Utterly fucking ridiculous.
Ok, now I see there are 6700xt for ~$400+ more than my 6800.. and they have still sold out.
The card is great value in this market at RRP of around $700. Not sure how much value there is at $1400.
I expect the reference cards to quickly disappear and AIB models to sit around the $1200-$1400 mark.
But but strix
Or for an extra $50 over the strix from pccg you can get a gigabyte 6700xt + b550 + 5600x. That's bananas stupid.
And yet, people are paying those prices still...
Just saw shoppingexpress' prices. What a laugh
someone just bought the Sapphire 6700XT from there for $1199, and then it's now out of stock with a price of $729
